Pumpkins Galore!
Science news from Room 105
Pumpkin Fun
This week we wrapped up our pumpkin experiments and explorations. As a class, we used pumpkins to estimate and measure. After that, we tried to answer a common question: How can you keep a pumpkin from rotting?
Measurement...
Students measured pumpkins using a bathroom scale, rulers, and cloth tape measures to find weight, height, and circumference.
More measurement
Students work with Miss Wall to record their pumpkin's actual height after using a ruler to measure it.
Students researched online ways to keep pumpkins from rotting
Students examined pumpkins and recorded their findings.
After 5 days, some of the pumpkins were still very clean.
Bleach...
This pumpkin and one other used a bleach solution...this is after 7 days.
Up next: Light and Sound!
Wednesday of this week, we started our first Project Lead the Way unit. We are currently working on sound and discovering how it travels. Today students used stethoscopes to listen to their hearts...it was so cool!
