COUGAR COURIER
December 20th, 2018
From the desk of Principal Ruiz
This week our scholars learned of holiday traditions around the world. Our scholars also had the opportunity to participate in Activity Day where each scholar visited at least four rotations of board games and activities designed to engage in thinking activities.
Our scholars also completed the Middle of the Year (MOY) NWEA assessments this week. This data will be shared with each family upon our return to CIA on January 7th. Our CIA educators will be utilizing the data to determine the best teaching strategies necessary for each scholar to master the Indiana academic standards necessary for success.
Report Cards will be available for each family to view in PowerSchool on January 10th. We encourage all families to contact their student's teacher if there are questions or concerns.
Thank you for your attendance at the CIA Winter Concert this week. We are blessed to have amazing talent in our scholars!
Be sure to check out the Great Day at CIA video performed by our very own Cougar Cast! You will not want to this way to "view" CIA. Click the link below...
Have a wonderful holiday break!
Serving with scholars in mind,
Ms. Angela Ruiz, Ph.D. Candidate, Ed.S.
CIA Dress Code
All scholars must be in a polo style shirt or turtleneck in the school approved colors: red, light or navy blue, black, or white.
All scholars must wear uniform style pants in the school approved colors: black, tan, or navy blue. Denim of any type is not allowed and leggings are not allowed, even if they are in the school approved color.
Scholars may wear CIA spirit wear to school any day, including the hooded sweatshirts that were sold online.
Scholars may wear a cardigan sweater in the school approved colors (red, black, navy, or white) over a polo style shirt or turtleneck.
Scholars may wear a crewneck sweatshirt that is solid in color (no stripes or writing are permissible on the crewneck sweatshirt) over a polo style shirt or turtleneck. If wearing a crewneck sweatshirt, scholars must have a polo or turtleneck that is visible under the crewneck sweatshirt.
No jackets or zip sweatshirts are allowed to be worn during the school day. Scholars may wear a long sleeve solid color t-shirt (red, navy blue, black, or white) under a school approved polo shirt.
Scholars that are out of uniform will be brought to the main office to call home for the appropriate uniform attire to be delivered to the school. Scholars will not be permitted in class without the appropriate uniform.
The gym shirts that scholars have received for gym are not to be worn to school during the school day. The gym shirts are only permitted in gym class.
If there are questions or concerns, please email and ask. We are here to help!
Making Good Choices:
Here is another way to help your children grow up to be respectful and kind, and to have the self-respect they need to make the right choices, both now and in the future.
The golden rule:
Teach your children to treat others the way that they, themselves, would like to be treated. Reinforce it at home, by treating your children with respect and expecting to be treated respectfully in return. Reinforce it through your church, synagogue, or temple, or through involvement in community activities that work to help others. And, most importantly, show your children you truly believe it by behaving respectfully yourself.
Gather your Box Tops to raise money for CIA
Yes, it is true...if our CIA families collect box tops, we earn money.
Here is how this works: CIA families, every time you use a General Mills product, cut off the BoxTop label and send it to school with your scholar. 400 scholars X 10 BoxTops per scholar = $400 for CIA! This is a fantastic opportunity because there is no need to purchase anything special. Many families end up with General Mills products in their homes after a trip to the store. We encourage each family to ask your friends, relatives and neighbors to do the same. Begin your search for the Box Top label! A collection box will be placed in the main office; please send all labels to school with your scholar.
