GREETINGS FROM PRINCIPAL FERGUSON!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed the beautiful weather! It is hard to believe that we have only 9 days of school left.
I want to thank all of our students and staff for the amazing job they have done to complete the spring assessments. Whether in person or remote, we have all persevered through this challenging time, and I appreciate the patience and commitment to completing this task.
I want to give a special thank you to Inter State Studio for providing Crosby with another day for school pictures. If your child had their picture taken on April 30, the photo packets were sent home last week. If your child had their photo taken on May 14, the photo packets may not be delivered to the school by the last day, May 27. We will call families when the packets are delivered to the school, and you may come to the office to pick up your child's photo packet.
We will be having a fire drill at Crosby on Monday, May 17 at 11:45 am. The drill will be lead by the Harvard Fire Department, and we will help our students understand how the fire drill allows us to practice so we are ready in case there is a real fire.
Congratulations to our final group of "Students of the Quarter" for the 2020-2021 school year! Listed below are the names of all students in grades K-3, who were selected for the Fourth Quarter. These students will receive their award packet at school if they are in person. For the students who are remote, I will be mailing their packet home.
Thank you to all of our families who have continued to support and encourage our students during this challenging time!
Have a wonderful week!
Mrs. Ferguson

ABC COUNTDOWN TO SUMMER
THE "COUNSELING CORNER" ~ MRS. SPAULDING & MRS. ALTMANN
Hello, Crosby Families!
We have focused on the topic of safety over the course of this semester, as well as this entire school year. Digital safety is an important component of this topic. It is essential that children understand how crucial it is to keep their personal information safe and not to share this information online. This includes not sharing personal photographs online without permission. Please take time to go over the concepts of digital safety with your children on a frequent basis. It is one of the most important conversations that we can have with our children.
To help you with your conversation about digital safety, we have compiled a list of amazing ideas shared by our Crosby Kids. The list discusses tips to stay safe when using computers, video games, and other forms of technology.
Digital Safety Tips
(Ideas shared by our AMAZING Crosby Kids)
*Do not share personal information (name, birthdate, city where you live, phone numbers, photographs).
*Your photograph is your property. People are not allowed to share a photograph of you without your permission. We should not share photographs of other people without their permission. It is disrespectful, and sometimes even illegal, to share a photograph of another person without their permission.
*Do not share your password with anyone except your parents, and make sure that password doesn’t include personal information.
*When creating a username, do not include information that could identify you, such as your last name or date of birth.
*Be careful when installing games, apps, or creating accounts. Be mindful that some of these might potentially be inappropriate or even part of a “scam” or “hack.” Be sure to research a program before you choose to install it. Always have a parent’s permission!
*Be aware of cyber “bots” or web robots--these are software applications that can perform repetitive tasks. Some bots can infect your device with a virus. Be very careful when you receive a message, stating that you have won something, or asking you to click on something unexpected or “tricky.” Do not click on these messages or invitations. IF IT SEEMS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT PROBABLY IS! Do not click on these offers!
*Socialize safely online--make sure you only talk online with people that you KNOW. Be sure your parents know who you are socializing with online at all times.
*Make sure the person you are talking to online is really who they say they are. Some people “pretend” to be someone that they are not. This is why it is so important that your parents know who you are talking to online. DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION (name, where you live, birthdate, or the name of the school where you attend) to anyone online.
And a couple of reminders from the counselors...
*Tik Tok is intended for ages 13 and up. Students should keep their account private and disable all messaging features. Parents can click here for more information.
*Remember that words online are just as powerful as words in person. Encourage your student to be a good digital citizen by using kind words and avoiding all put downs and hate speech. Remind them that if someone else is not being a good digital citizen, they should tell an adult right away.
As always, please feel free to contact us if you have any questions, concerns, or just want to talk! We are here to help support our amazing Crosby Kids and their families.
Have a WONDERFUL WEEK!
Your Crosby Counselors,
Kortni Spaulding and Alli Altmann
