Kidder Family Newsletter
December 11, 2023

Dear Kidder Families,
We continue to explore ways to develop Empathy in our students one of the key competencies of the Journey of a Blue Devil. This week we will be discussing empathy and perspective. Students will be reading, A Little SPOT of Empathy Read Aloud.
As parents, you can support this at home by engaging in one or all of the following activities:
1. Family Game: Each member of the family will write down, draw a picture, or share out 2-3 things about themselves that someone else might not know and share.
2. Appreciation Round: One person completes the following sentence about a family member / friend and then tags the next person, or the next person volunteers. “What I appreciate about you, John, is…”
The more specific and detailed you can be about the behavior or attribute, the better.
3. Personal Notes: Take the time to recognize someone, express gratitude or acknowledge an emotional event. There is magic in the feel of a card in your hands and the thoughtfulness of a penned note. You can also send an eCard

Outdoor Recess
Please make sure your child(ren) are dressed warm for school. We will go outside if the temperature is 20 degrees or higher (this includes windchill). The only time we will not go out is if temp is below 20 (with windchill), raining or conditions of playground & blacktop has too many puddles.
Students may want to have coats, hats, gloves and when snow starts to fly - boots. ALL students participate in outdoor recess unless we have a doctor's note on file with restrictions.
*If your child(ren) is/are in need of warmer clothes/gear such as jackets, hats, gloves, scarves - we do have brand new items for students who need them. Please email Mrs.Dagostino: edagostino@bcsoh.org or Mrs. Auler: Lauler@bcsoh.org.
Melrose Drop Off / Pick-up
In order to ensure a smooth flow and respect for our residents, we kindly ask that you follow these guidelines when dropping off or picking up students before and/or after school:
1. Please avoid arriving more than 5-10 minutes before or after the school day begins or ends. This will help us manage the traffic flow and minimize congestion.
2. Do not block the driveways of our neighbors, so that they can come and go without any inconvenience. Blocking driveways can create a safety risk for everyone in the event of an emergency.
3. Please wait patiently when our staff members are directing traffic until the cars are in motion before pulling ahead.
4.Please turn right on Hudak and avoid turning left to avoid back-up, further delays and for the safety of our residents.
Your understanding and support are important in minimizing the impact of this temporary traffic pattern on the daily lives of our community residents. Thank you for being considerate and helping us maintain a safe environment for everyone.
