CICONES
(The Lotus-Eaters)
The Ciconians were called “lotus eaters” because they ate a flowery food& they lived on the southwestern coast of Throce
Oddyseus and his men arrived where the cicones were & he sent forth his comrades to mingle with the Ciconians , the Ciconians didn't plan to harm the comrades but they fought, and Odysseus and his men ended up losing. The Ciconians gave them some of their flowers to eat (honey sweet fruit of the lotus), the flowers made them forget all thoughts of home and wish to stay in the country, because of this, Odysseus lost a few more of his men. After their visit, they left and sailed on to the land of the Cyclones.
