Dear Families,

I'd like to thank Cheri Rivera for organizing and executing a successful Winter Craft Fair this past weekend. Students and their families enjoyed a variety of winter-themed crafts in our LGI. Thank you also to the many parents and former Meadow Heights students who volunteered their time.

On 12/9, we had 20 parents come to Meadow Heights for our first kindergarten information meeting. These are families who have a kindergarten student for the next year. I will host another meeting in January.

Today we conducted our Mustang Tickets raffle. Tickets were pulled from grade-level buckets. Students whose tickets were pulled came to the office to select a small prize. Students are excited to show examples of being safe, respectful, and responsible throughout the day and earning Mustang Tickets! A raffle will happen each Friday around 12:00.

Reminder: December 17th is a minimum day for all students. Dismissal is at 12:30 for K-5th grades 12/17/21. It is also pajama day for all students and staff!

All sessions will offer Spanish translation. New student registration and transfer request information are posted on the District website. New student registration and transfer forms for 2022-2023 open at noon on Monday, December 13. Please share this information with your neighbors and friends.

Art in Action Appreciation

Our fourth graders studied the landscapes of Canadian painter Lawren Harris, an arctic explorer. When looking at his work they learned about the technique of atmospheric perspective in which things in the foreground are darker and more detailed, and things in the distance are lighter in color and less detailed. Each child painted his or her own wintery scene by mixing tints and shades of cool colors.

Thanks to our PTA, Mrs. Duncan provides informative and rich art experiences for all our students.

Big picture

Emotion Management & Mindfulness

Emotion Management is learning how to identify our emotions and find strategies to handle these different emotions.

Mindfulness is about paying attention in a particular way-where we listen and notice what is happening with an open heart and mind.
