Cedar Grove Friday Flash

May 13, 2022

Dear Cedar Grove Families,

Thank you to our PTA for a fantastic Book Fair week! The children enjoyed time to visit and browse all the wonderful books and other available items. Many thanks to Book Fair chair, Kavita Patel, for organizing this event and to all the parents and staff who assisted in making this such a great success!

Last night was our Spring Chorus and Instrumental Music concert. It's been quite a while since we have been able to have these special programs, and it was such a pleasure to listen to all the great music that was shared. The children did a fabulous job, and it was clear that they worked hard and practiced for many hours to prepare for the evening. Thank you to Cheryl Smoker-Arellano and Ryan Kieft for all their efforts in making this such a wonderful evening of music!

We are quickly moving toward the end of this year, and we are already preparing for the 2022-2023 school year. This includes beginning the articulation process by which we form classes for the coming year. If you have information that you would like us to consider as part of this process, please submit it to us, in writing, by May 27.

Although teachers and other staff know your children well in the school setting, there may be other factors you’d like us to consider. Your letter or email might include your views on your child’s strengths and needs as well as his/her learning style and the type of learning environment that you feel is best matched to it. Information about which children your child should or should not be grouped with is also helpful. Letters should not include requests for particular teachers, and such requests will not be considered.

We hope you will be able to come to Around the World tonight from 5:30-8:30! Have a wonderful weekend!

SGA News

Next Friday during "Bear Day", the SGA will be giving all the students an opportunity to put their "stamp" on the school. The kids will be putting their handprints on the wall by the cafeteria to help show a sense of ownership and community. Thanks to all our SGA leaders (Corie, Parker, Saanvi, and Peyton) for coming up with this idea and bringing it to reality. The only thing we could use from parents are some hand wipes for the clean up after the students put their handprint on the wall. If you have any extra at home, please send them in with your child next week. Thanks so much for your support!!
