Every Student, Every Day, Deserves to Learn, Lead, & Excel!
A Message from Ms. Perkins
Thank you to everyone who came out to support our annual Literacy Night. It was a wonderful evening for our school community. It was wonderful to come together in person. I hope everyone enjoys the book they selected to take home.
Next Wednesday, November 10, 2021 our Media Specialist (Jessica Andrews) and our Media Clerk (Deb Saha) will host a Night of Poetry. Come out to hear our students share their favorite poem written by others or a poem they have created. The event will begin at 5:00 pm.
This will be our last school day for this week. All schools will be closed Friday, November 5, 2021, to allow everyone to celebrate the Braves' World Series Championship. Also, a reminder that next Tuesday, November 9, 2021, will be a Digital Learning Day for all students. Students will learn from home on that day.
Stay warm and have a great weekend!
Digital Learning Day!
Meals will be available for curbside pick up 11:00 - 12:00 pm.
Don't forget to "Fall Back" and turn your clock back 1 hour Saturday night!
November is Native American Heritage Month
Since 1990, Congress has authorized an annual presidential proclamation that designates November as National American Indian Heritage Month to encourage all people to learn about the contributions and cultures of the Indigenous peoples of the North American continent. Such recognition, however, dates back further with state and organizational recognition of Indigenous peoples days and commemorations occurring at the turn of the twentieth century. For example, Dr. Arthur C. Parker, a Seneca Indian and co-founder of the Society of American Indians in 1911, organized American Indian Day beginning in 1915. More recently, Columbus Day, which is recognized on the second Monday of October, has been reclaimed in cities across the United States as Indigenous People's Day. Cafeteria Update
The GCPS School Nutrition program continues to have difficulty securing many items for our daily menu and supplies for the cafeteria. As you may have noticed, some menu items are rotating more frequently and some have not been available.
Unfortunately, the recyclable trays are in short supply too. All schools will be cutting back the use of the trays. Some days students will receive meals wrapped in another container but will receive no tray. Hopefully, this will be resolved soon. Thank you ahead of time for your flexibility.
