Geothermal Energy

Geothermal energy is heat found deep in the ground near western states. We recover it by digging holes and building wells. We also use geothermal reservoirs, though other geothermal heat comes up from volcanoes and hot springs. Geothermal is considered renewable because it's heat straight from the earth.

Solar Energy

Solar energy is a type of renewable energy because there's a never ending amount. The source that solar energy comes from is the sun, and it's recovered by solar panels. It then transfers to your house for heat, electricity, light, hot water and even air conditioning.

I think that we should use solar panels more often because they're natural, and we don't have to dig up holes in the ground or hurt the earth.

Water Energy (Hydropower)

A hydropower plant produces power/energy from moving water. There are three major states where the hydropower plant is concentrated most. Oregon, California and Washington. The hydroplant mostly relies on the water cycle. Water is considered renewable energy because we keep on using it, and it keeps on raining-though we are in a major drought right now. We should use this type of energy in the future more because it's a very earthy way of producing energy, and it's not wasting anything natural.

I think that we should be using this type of energy because it doesn't produce any waste or trash. 43% of U.S energy comes from burning fuel, and I think it lets up a lot of gasses and other fuel into the air, that just pollutes the earth. Whereas solar power doesn't hurt the earth or let out any fuels.

The cost of solar energy is high... about 18,000-40,000 dollars (3-7 kilowatts). The cost can be unreachable. Then, for the power inverter, it's another 1,000-3,000 dollars. Another reason why people might not be using it is because their location might not be right. For example, I would love for our house to have solar panels, except for the fact that there's a tree covering most of the roof, so it would be a big waste of money.



We should really start using renewable energy because we are basically wasting our renewable resources right now. If we just think about how much sunlight, wind, and water we get everyday, and think about how we could transform this into energy for power, heat, and light, all of this could add up to a great use of energy. But instead we mostly burn coal for energy.

Not the best choice in my opinion.

Though we are trying to use renewable energy more, I think that we could try harder.
