Week Two!
Hi Wilder Families! Thank you again for your support as we continue to get in our groove! I am so thankful for our teachers and staff as we continue to norm our practices and establish positive learning environments. Please plan to attend Back to School Night on Tuesday, September 13. We will kick off our evening with a PTSA meeting at 5:30 and then meet the teachers from 6:00-7:45. Please see the information below for more information.
Soon you will receive information about a field trip to the VA State Fair. Please be on the lookout for an email from your grade level administrator as well as a permission slip. We are excited to take our students to the Educational Expo offered at the fair and provide some time for them to explore with their friends. It's so nice to be able to enjoy this time as a school community.

Upcoming VGA Testing
During the week of September 12- 16, 2022 your child will take Virginia Growth Assessments. These statewide tests must be taken at school and are given in the fall and winter in grades 3-8 Reading and Mathematics. The Virginia Growth Assessments are shorter computer adaptive tests (CAT) than Standards of Learning (SOL) tests.
The Virginia Growth Assessments are designed to measure a student’s individual progress over time and most of the questions students receive will be based on the curriculum of their current class. There is no passing or failing score. After testing, teachers and parents will receive detailed information on a student's strengths and/or learning opportunities. Teachers will use the information learned from the Virginia Growth Assessment results individually, in small groups, and in whole groups to guide instruction.
At the end of the year, your child’s Virginia Growth Assessment results can be compared to the spring 2023 SOL test scores to show growth patterns. In contrast to the Virginia Growth Assessments, SOL tests measure whether or not your child has mastered particular skills by the end of a specific grade level or course.
