The Willard Weekly

January 18, 2016

Dear Willard Families and Community,

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day! There is no school on Monday, January 18, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Please join us Wednesday, January 20th, at 6:00 pm to ratify PTA’s nominating committee in the library. Students will receive a homework free pass. There will be a raffle for a gift card and theater tickets.

On Thursday, January 21, 5th grade will participate in Lunch and Learn, which teaches healthy nutrition. SSC meets at 3:00pm. The AAPC meeting has been postponed to February 18.

Mad Science will be offering two after-school programs at Willard this semester. Classes start the week of January 25th. You need to register on-line at www.madscience.org

Our IB attitude for the month of January is empathy. Empathy is the ability to consider another's situation, in order to understand his/ her emotions and reasoning. The profile attribute that we are celebrating is being principled. Being a principled person means to act with integrity and honesty, take responsibility for his/her own actions, and have a strong sense of fairness and justice (IBO, 2009). Please share these with your child(ren) and discuss how these traits are helpful in daily life.

The Willard Weekly is posted on Willard’s Facebook page. Be sure to like it.

Did you know that all 4th graders receive a free pass for Federal Parks (families are included)? Please check out this website for more information.
