TVUSD COMMUNITY CONNECTION
DECEMBER 16, 2022
A MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
As we approach winter break, which begins officially on Thursday, December 22nd, I want to extend my warmest holiday wishes to our TVUSD families. We sincerely hope you have a restful vacation from school and enjoy time with your loved ones.
We conducted the swearing-in of our four newly elected Board members. Please join me in welcoming Allison Barclay (Trustee Area 1), Danny Gonzalez (Trustee Area 2), Jennifer Wiersma (Trustee Area 3), and Dr. Joseph Komrosky (Trustee Area 4). We look forward to supporting them as they guide us in ensuring TVUSD continues to soar!
We also honored students at our Board recognitions this week. Please view the video below, as seeing all the amazing student leaders around the district and how they impact their campuses daily is a treat!
There is a lot of information in this newsletter. We will highlight our ESS Department, Human Resources Development, Tony Tobin Elementary School, Vail Ranch Middle School, Sparkman Alternative Education Center, and our PTA Spotlights. Also included is a huge Congratulations to Great Oak High School, where the Cross Country team and Band won State Championships! I could go on-and-on, as we have so much to be proud of and excited for…but please take the time over the holidays to rest and enjoy your loved ones!
We will see you in 2023!
Warmly,
Jodi McClay, Ed.D.

CIVIC ENGAGEMENT
There are a variety of topics around the country and locally (even in our school district) that people are passionate about. We value civic engagement from all of our constituents, including students, and we always acknowledge First Amendment rights. High school administrators have worked especially hard this week to assist students in sharing their voices in appropriate ways. TVUSD is known for our high academic standards, always in a respectful environment. We intend to maintain this expectation as we move into second semester.
Tell us what you think!
The deadline for submitting the annual Family Survey is Wednesday, December 21st. Please use the following link to submit your feedback. The survey takes about 5-10 minutes to complete and gives the district valuable data to make decisions that impact students. We value everyone's opinions, and can't wait to hear from each of you!
CLICK HERE to complete the survey by December 21st. We thank you in advance for your time and thoughtful responses.
Happy December TVUSD! With the holidays fast approaching and the business of the season well underway, we hope you will take a moment to read this month's SEL newsletter. This month's newsletter addresses the challenges of this season and how to best manage the stress and other emotions that tend to resonate at this time of year. We hope this newsletter gives you some comfort and practical strategies at this time of year. Thank you for your time and endless support of TVUSD students and staff. We hope you all have a magnificent winter season.
