Lenski Weekly Update
September 22nd, 2023
From the Principal's Desk
What a fun week! Thank you to everyone who volunteered to support our Spirit Week and Fun Run! And thank you all who donated to support our awesome school. We have raised just over $35,000!! If f you haven’t donated yet, there’s still time!
To Donate By Credit Card : form.jotform.com/232464207728155
To Donate By Check : Make it out to Lois Lenski PTO and place it in an envelope with the student's name and class on it.
These funds help tremendously in supporting additional staff at Lenski. We are grateful!
Our School Accountability Committee met this past week as well. We had a lot to celebrate as we welcomed new parents, reviewed our School Performance Framework, and learned about our school-wide goals for the year. Please click here to access the presentation shared. We are also excited to share how well our amazing Lenski students did last year with our annual School Performance Framework. Our school ranked high with 84 points, which puts us at Performance Status (which is really great!). Thank you for all of your support of teaching and learning! Please let me know if you’d like to connect to learn about our rating system through the Department of Education. Our next meeting will be on November 14th from 1:45-2:45. All are welcome!
Just a reminder that next Friday, September 29th is a non-student day. Enjoy the long weekend with your Superstar!
With Lenski Love,
Jessica

Author Peter Brown to Visit Lenski!
We are thrilled to announce that we've been chosen as a stop on Peter Brown's upcoming book tour launching his third title in The Wild Robot series: The Wild Robot Protects.
Local bookshop Second Star to the Right and publisher Brown Books for Young Readers have partnered to sponsor this book tour. Peter Brown will visit with our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students from 8:15 to 9:00 a.m. to tell us all about Roz the Robot and her thrilling new adventure.
Second Star to the Right is offering signed Robot series books! They also have some of his other titles available to order, all at a 20% discount with the code ROBOT. All are great read-alouds! When placing orders, choose store pickup to avoid shipping fees.
From the Office
Parents on the Playground
Come be a kid for the afternoon and join our students for Parents on the Playground! You can sign up for one lunch time or the whole day, whatever fits your schedule! Play tag, push kids on the swings, be a challenger in a game of four square - whatever you choose, you are a ROCK STAR to the kids!
Transportation Policies
If your student wants to take the bus home with a friend, please follow these steps:
Call Transportation to notify their office of the change. 303-347-4775
Send your student to school with a note. This will notify their teacher of the change. Then, they should ask to take this note to the office to be approved.
Please note that bus drivers err on the side of caution when dropping students off. The district policy is that students K-1 must be met by an adult at the bus stop. If parents are running late, the bus driver will have the students ride the remaining bus route while parents are contacted. Older siblings are allowed to accompany younger students off the bus if they appear to be confident and know where they are going.

What is the Halloween BOOtique?
The Halloween BOOtique is an opportunity for families to find the perfect costume for Halloween parties, Trick-or-Treating and fun. They follow a "pay what makes you happy" model with the hopes of creating joy and removing the burden of cost, especially when a costume is only worn once. So whether someone can offer $0, $0.50 or $10, all are welcome.
People of all ages are invited to come in and checkout their selection of gently used costumes for all ages and sizes-infant through adult-let your imagination run wild.
The Halloween BOOtique is held at the Streets at SouthGlenn - across the street
from H&M.
6851 S. Gaylord St. Suite 236, Centennial, CO.
Open October 13-15.

Rendezvous Hoedown
A Musical Performance by 4th Graders
The 4th grade classes will be re-enacting an historical “social,” or hoedown, similar to those held at Rendezvous in Colorado between 1825-1840. These Rendezvous provided a place for hunters, trappers, and fur traders to trade their wares and socialize after months in the mountains and forests of Colorado.
WHO: ALL 4th grade students and their guests
WHAT: A social hoedown in the manner of historical Rendezvous
WHEN: Thursday, October 26th at 5:30-6:00 p.m. – student performers, please report to your classroom by 5:15 p.m.
WHERE: Lois Lenski Multipurpose Room
WEAR?: Students should wear something that reflects Colorado’s heritage. This could be “pioneer wear,” “rancher/cowboy wear,” “farmer wear,” etc. No need to purchase an official costume - something as simple as jeans, shirt, and bandana is completely fine. Please, no hats.
