SUMMER ACADEMIC RECOVERY OPTIONS FOR CGHS STUDENTS - REGISTER NOW!
Central Gwinnett HS students have three options for summer academic recovery.
Click on the link below to see an overview of the three summer academic recovery programs:
CGHS Summer Academic Opportunities - SPAN
CGHS Summer Academic Opportunities - ENG
Tips for choosing which of the three options is best for your child:
1. What is the final grade in the course?
- If your child needs to make up a course from a previous semester, please look for the final grade in your child's course history in the Parent Portal or on your child's high school transcript available in the "Documents" section of the Parent Portal. Any grade between 0-69% is a failing grade.
- If your child needs to make up a course from this semester, final grades for a course will be posted by the end of the day on which the final exam for the course is given. All final grades will be posted by the end of the day on May 24 (the last day of school).
2. Is the final grade 70% or above?
- Yay! Your child passed the course! No summer school is needed for this specific semester course.
3. Is the final grade between 50-69%?
- Depending on the course needed, your child may be eligible for the Credit Recovery @ CGHS (free).
- The student may also be eligible for Credit Recovery courses through the GCPS Summer School program (two courses free).
- All credit recovery is in-person. No transportation is provided.

4. Is the final grade between 0-49%?
- Depending on the course needed, your child may be eligible for the CGHS Summer Academic Recovery Program @ CGHS or the GCPS Summer School program (located at Archer HS, Berkmar HS, or Lanier HS).
- Both programs are in-person and transportation is the responsibility of the student and family. The program at CGHS is free. The GCPS program will pay for two courses.

5. Are you interested in an online summer option?
- Online courses are being offered through the GCPS Online Campus. Please note the following:
- Online courses are self-directed - meaning students do not have daily classes to receive daily instruction.
- Course final exams must be taken in person at the GOC location in Lawrenceville.
- Two courses may be taken for free.
Click here for GCPS Online Campus summer school website.
6. My child can't attend summer school (not wanting to do online, no transportation, out of state for summer, etc.).
- Course credits required for graduation will need to be made up during upcoming semester(s).
7. Need additional help?
- Contact Cassie Milligan at the CGHS Parent Center at 770-822-6540 or cassie.milligan@gcpsk12.org to set up an appointment for the week of May 22.
- Come to Central Gwinnett High School Commons on May 25 (correction), from 8:00 - 10:30 AM, to receive help with summer school registration.
