All Together Now! May 23rd
Week of May 23rd
We had a spectacular JCS Sea Turtle Day on Friday! I hope the kids came home with as much joy and spirit as we felt during the day together! At the assemblies, students learned about the history of JCS from Ms. Alves and Mrs. Dennett, sang "All I Really Need" with Mr. Place, learned about our sea turtle adoption success from Mrs. Farley and Mrs. Ryan, and sang our new school song with Dr. Marcus. In the hallways, students searched for hidden sea turtles to solve a puzzle, and then offered name ideas for our mascot. In the library, Ms. Weber and Mrs. Goodrich put together an awesome JCS Museum for kids to explore. And after the assemblies, Mrs. Farley had a sea turtle tracking map with the names of all 12 (of 19) sea turtles we can track. There were also sea turtle themed activities in classrooms, the gym, and other specials. The new purple staff shirts thanks to the SPO were a real highlight for everyone as well! Can't wait 'til next year!
This week, we have Book Fair during the day on Tuesday and Wednesday, then a Family Night at the Book Fair Wednesday from 4-6pm. Following the Book Fair, Mr. Place and the third grade will hold a concert outdoors. NHS students are coming over for a big Science Day on Thursday (for grades 1-3). And on Friday, Mr. Place will be leading the 2nd Grade at our annual Memorial Day Concert at 2pm (all are welcome).
Have a great week everyone!
