Japanese Internment Camps
The bitter truth
America
The government wanted to portray that the Japanese loved America and that they were excited to go to the camps. This shows that they wanted to show citizens that they were treating the Japanese like any other American.
Fun in the Camps
The USA government released photos of the Japanese have ing fun inside the interment camps to show that this was a good and happy place for them to go.
Moving away
This photo shows an untrue picture of how the Japanese were feeling. The government wanted the Americans to think that the Japanese were willing to leave their homes and go to the camps.
After the Internement
When the Japanese had come back from the internment camps, everything changed. The Japanese were being discriminated against because the government showed the Japanese in a negative light and that the Japanese wanted to harm the Americans. Because of the proporganda the gorvernment had gotten many Americans to hate the Japanese.
The Truth
In reality, the Japanese were treated very poorly. Instead of being treated as real Americans, they were treated as prisoners. They were obviously not trusted by the American government. The Japanese were very restricted in the camps and did not have any freedom, as you can see in this photo of the Japanese being heavily guarded with big machine guns.
