Knowing Amelia

Do you know who Amelia Earhart is? Well she was the first women to fly solo across the Atlantic ocean. She was born July 24, 1897 in Atchison, Kansas. Her full name is Amelia Mary Earhart. She did not start school until age 12 going into 7th grade. She went to Columbia university for college.

Early Experiences

She knew she had to fly when she was at the Canadian National Exposition. She got to ride in a plane at about 200-300ft she knew she had to fly. Her first lesson was January 3rd, 1921 at Kinner field near long beach.

About her flight

Her goal was to be the first women to fly solo across the Atlantic ocean. She set off May 20 1932 at age 34. She really hoped to get back home safe with her mission accomplished. But then something happened.

Her Disappearance

She disappeared July 2nd 1937 at age 39. She disappeared going to Howland Island. The search ended July 18 1937. Then was legally dead January 5th 1939.
