WHEN TO SEND YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL OR NOT?
Our main offices and nursing services have been seeing an abundance of sickness over the last few weeks. Lately, we have been seeing children sent to school that had been vomiting within the last 24-hours, only to have another instance happen while at school. We are taking this opportunity to remind families to please follow the FPS Communicable Decision Tree we shared earlier in the year when it comes to assessing if you should send your child to school or not. As with any communicable disease, you will receive guidance from our nursing services staff on how long your child should be excluded from school based on their symptoms of illness or diagnosis as applicable.
A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Last week, we welcomed Mr. Joe Beckman during Advisory to speak with our Freshman and Peer Mentors. The presentation from Mr. Beckman focused on building empathy, resilience, and a sense of self-worth and legacy with our 9th graders. Mr. Beckman joined us through our partnership with the city of Franklin and Volition Franklin. We are thankful for this opportunity and the continued reflection this will allow for with our students.
As a school, we have a goal to increase student engagement. In the last two weeks, our students took our student engagement pulse survey. This Spring, we will gather students in focus groups to learn more about their everyday experiences.
We will continue to take action to proactively teach our students to speak up and create a school culture of belonging. As a staff we will address and take action when our students make choices that do not align with, support, or realize our vision of a school culture of belonging, helping, empathy, compassion, understanding, and cooperation.
Here is to a great week and go Sabers!
Sincerely,
Mike Vuolo
