4-H Family Night at Mount Kato
Hit the slopes with 4-H at Mount Kato! Join members from across Blue Earth, Brown, Faribault, Le Sueur, Nicollet, and Sibley Counties on Saturday, January 22nd from 4-6 p.m. for discounted rates on Snow Tubing.
Open to 4-H members and non-4-H friends/family who enroll online. Sign up through 4-H online to get registered. Mount Kato tubing has a height requirement of at least 42″ and a one-person per tube rule. Youth are NOT able to ride with Adults. Winter Weather CheckIt is again that time of year. Inclement weather is upon us! If the weather causes cancellations or postponements of 4-H events, listen to one of the following local radio stations: KDUZ - Hutchinson 320-587-2140 and KNUJ - New Ulm 507-359-2921. If any of the county schools are canceled or have an early out due to weather, the evening county-wide 4-H events will be canceled. | Upcoming Federation Meeting The next Federation Meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 24, 2022 with Leader's Council starting at 7:00 p.p. and Federation meeting starting at 7:30 p.m. in the Sibley County Service Center. Please plan on having EVERY club represented. The Federation Delegates are the link between the clubs and the Federation. We will be asking each club delegate to give a brief update on your club's happenings. If you can't make it, PLEASE try to find a replacement. This year the Federation will be having a drawing for $25 and $10 gift cards for 4-H members that attend each of the federation meetings. Job Interview Contest
The 4-H Advertising Agency is scheduled to open in January of 2022. Human Resource Representatives will be conducting interviews on Monday, January 24, 2022 at the Sibley County Extension Office starting at 4:00 p.m. Seniors can interview for a job of their choice. They don’t need to apply for one of the following jobs. Seniors also need to bring a resume. The following positions are available for all other 4-Her’s and cloverbuds. NOTE: Register for an interview time by calling the Extension Office at 507-237-4100 by Friday, January 21. Interviews will be held in 15 minute increments.
ADVERTISING AGENCY COMPANY
- Photographer/Videographer - We are seeking a creative, hardworking, personable, and driven photographer/videographer to join our team. In this position, you will play a key role in the visual storytelling and branding of various companies. The type of pictures you take will depend on what our client asks for, but you will collaborate with a variety of creatives in both studio and natural settings. Must be experienced with design and photo editing software.
- Art Director – We are seeking an art director to be responsible for what advertisements look like. You will create an advertising campaign that has an instant, positive impact on the consumer in order to promote the product or brand being advertised. You will generate clear ideas and concepts. Must be able to produce sketches, storyboards, art layouts based on creative visions and ideas.
- Website Design – We are seeking an experienced web designer/developer responsible for the design, layout and coding of client websites. You will be involved with the technical and graphical aspects of a website - how the site works and how it looks. You will be responsible for testing the website and identifying any technical problems and uploading the site onto a server and registering it with different search engines. Must be experienced in writing the programming code or working with website and graphics software.
- Performing Artists/talent – We are looking for dedicated, disciplined and talented individuals to perform in our advertising campaigns. Experienced instrumentalists, actors, singers, magicians, animal trainers and dancers are all needed to perform for both TV, radio and internet ad campaigns.
- Prop maker/mechanic – We are seeking experienced carpenters, welders, and mechanics to build and create objects and props for the use in TV and photo advertisements. Must be familiar with tools and have experience with carpentry or mechanics and welding.
- Advertising Copywriter – We are seeking talented writers to join our growing advertising company. You will be responsible for generating the words, slogans and audio scripts that accompany advertising visuals. Must be creative and have good written and interpersonal skills. Will work side by side with the art director.
Beef Weigh-InCentral identification for market beef and dairy steers will take place on Sunday, February 6, 2022 from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. The weigh-in will take place at Joy Cohrs Farm in rural Glencoe. The snow date is February 13, 2022! All market beef projects MUST be identified on this date. If you can not make it this date, please call our office at 507-237-4100. Remember: ALL Market Beef ID’s are due February 15! The required ear tags will be available at the weigh-in. | Share the Fun and Performing ArtsMark your calendars for Share The Fun and Performing Arts. Just log into your family profile and click on events. Scroll through all the options, I am sure there is something that you may be interested in. Remember if there is a cost to the event, that the Sibley County Federation has scholarships available to reimburse a portion of the cost. |

Mark your calendars for Share The Fun and Performing Arts. We have set the date for Friday, March 11, 2022 at the Sibley East High School Auditorium in Arlington starting at 7:00 p.m. Show off all those talents you have and make sure to call into the Extension Office to get signed up.

Project Bowl
Last year Sibley County had 5 teams in General Livestock and a team in Rabbit. We are currently forming teams to start practicing for the regional and state competitions that are coming up in March and April. If you are interested in joining a team or starting up a team in one of the other project areas, please reach out to Connie or Joleen.
Fruit FundraiserThe Sibley County 4-H Federation will once again be holding a Fundraiser this spring. We will be selling fruit from MinnTex. We are asking ALL 4-H members to participate. Fruit order forms and more information will be mailed out to individual families in January. Fruit will be delivered in late March. | Ribbon Auction Meeting The Auction Committee will be meeting on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. at the Sibley County Service Center. If you have any ideas and would like to be part of the committee, please join us! | Project Development Committee We will be having our next Animal PDC meeting on February 8, 2022 starting at 7:00 p.m. at the Sibley County Service Center in Gaylord. Decisions on future shows, such as judging criteria, herdsmanship, stalling, awards and many other areas of running a good contest and animal program are discussed at these meetings. YOUTH are strongly encourage to attend - we need your input! |
