STEM Across the Grades
Christmas Stem Challenge
From Mrs. Blair-Wilcox - We did a STEM challenge to build a Christmas tree with just toothpicks and gum drops. We exchanged stockings as our Christmas gift this year. And, finally, there are two "minute to win it" game challenges we competed in: Who could get the cookie from their forehead to their mouth and who could pick up the most candy canes with a candy can in their mouth? Mr. Johnston even stopped by and competed in that challenge.
Christmas Cookies
Thank you Mrs. Spence for the story (and to the many people who sent pictures) Mrs. Cartier’s and Mrs. Hesseltine’s Kindergarten classes joined the Food Prep and College Prep class on Wednesaday and Thursday to make Christmas cookies. It’s always fun to see some of the older students working with the younger ones. Lots of laughs, sprinkles, and even dancing occurred.
Thank You CCS
I would like to thank everyone at CCS who contributed to the food & toy collection held at school. Every year I am so impressed by the amount of items collected. Above & beyond that, Vicki Gardiner helps by dividing up the donated toys to the children on my list. She also brings teens from Student Council to help. This year, those students were Grace Harrigan and Laurel Spence. There were 53 baskets distributed; 98 adults and 68 children were helped. You can see that this is a very important project.
I would also like to inform everyone that next year will be my last year coordinating this program. I will have done it 5 years and I think it's time for someone younger to take over. I mention this now because if anyone wants to consider taking over, I will be happy to meet with you so you can look over the information that I have. I'm also willing to have you go through the steps with me starting next fall. I have a large binder with every step written down with exactly what to do and when to do it.
I have copies of all paperwork, as well. I will be honest when I tell you that it is a big undertaking, but going through it step by step and enlisting plenty of volunteers, it really does go smoothly. I always have around 30 people who donate their time, which really amounts to about 4-5 hours. And please remember that it helps so many adults and children. My e-mail is tombet70@gmail.com and my phone number is 518-497-6656. Sincerely, Betty Cook

CCS Students Setting an Example
Mrs. Tourville received a phone call on Friday morning from a Malone mom complimenting a recent basketball game between FA and the Bulldogs. This mom was seated near our student body section and loved hearing the positive cheers and even enjoyed some respectable banter with our kids. This is how the gymnasium should be every game! What a lovely compliment for our students here at CCS. We are fortunate to have such a great group of young adults.
