Gaming Trends and Champions
Issue #8
New and Improved!
Our staff (me) has ended its vacation and "Gaming Trends and Champions" is back! Over the vacation I have been thinking a lot about what this flyer has accomplished in these past few months and where it is headed. I have decided that what I want for this newsletter is to be recognized by more than just the small group of my friends that receive it now. In order to do that, the flyers subject matter needs to be expanded. Yes, gaming is this flyers main focus and will continue to be, but we need to connect on more levels than that. When you think "Gaming Trends and Champions" I want you to think it is the one place to learn all the news that is "cool" and relevant to our generation and Tell City Jr. Sr. Highschool. To aid me on this endeavor, Kyle Goffinet has been assigned as my official Co-writer! Be sure to check out his first article (Is online gaming in our school a dying fad?)!
News, Trends, and Memes
Flappy Bird
What is Flappy Bird? Flappy Bird is a new and very addicting IOS game that is taking app stores by storm. The objective of Flappy Bird is to surgically move a bird through a gap made from two tubes without hitting either tube. It sounds simple enough but you soon find that it is extremely difficult and frustrating. My Hi-score on Flappy Bird is 29, Kyle's Hi-score is 59! download the app and try and beat us!
Super Bowl Sunday
One of the most watched and talked about events in Americas culture, the Super Bowl, took place this Sunday! The football game consisted of funny commercials, the red hot chili peppers, Bruno Mars, and the Seattle Seahawks embarrassing the Denver Broncos with a 43-8 win. Seattle almost tied the 1985 bears record of a 36 point differential (35). The super bowl is also the subject of this issues game of the week.
Winter Sports Coming To An End
Spring is near which means winter sports are moving into their championship phase. This past weekend our wrestling team competed in their sectional meet, David Teague, Aubrey Craig, and Elliott Brown were the only members that advanced to the regional tournament. The B/G swim team will compete in their sectional meet February 15. Be sure to give all of these people your best wishes!
Is Online Gaming In Our School a Dying Fad?
Since we received the Chromebooks this year, there has been a huge increase in online gaming throughout TCJSHS. However, it seems as if online gaming is slowly becoming nothing more than a memory. Remember the constant hours of Urbville and the intense battles on Territory War 3? It seems those days are gone and to be honest I can't decided whether this a good or bad thing. The real question is," What will it take to revive the gaming scene in our school?" The fact of the matter is that games may be going out for now, but that will only be for awhile because you can never fully stop the empire known as online gaming.
