Author Visit
We are so excited to announce former SCE student, now author, Anna Cook will be visiting on February 6th. Please see picture for information on purchasing an autographed book. Order forms should have gone home this week.
Attendance Matters
It is important for every student in Ohio to attend school every day. Attendance studies routinely show the connection between regular attendance and critical school measures such as reading proficiently, performing well academically, and graduating from high school.
Chronic absence is defined in Ohio as a student missing 10% or more of the school year for any reason – excused, medically excused, unexcused and suspensions.
Chronic absenteeism is part of Ohio’s report card as part of Ohio’s Every Student Succeeds Act Plan. Ohio, along with 35 other states, uses chronic absenteeism as a measurement of student success under the Gap Closing Component.

CHARACTER TRAIT OF THE MONTH
Here at Sycamore Creek, students will be learning about HONESTY this month - what it means, and why it is important!
Learning happens best when it is done both at school and at home. Consider some of these discussion points to help you “talk about” HONESTY with your student.
Has anyone ever been DISHONEST to you before? If so, how did you feel?
What do you think HONESTY means and why is it important?
Tell me about a time when it was hard to be HONEST.
What makes it hard to be HONEST?
How will others view you if you are HONEST? How will others view you if you are DISHONEST?
