* UPDATED * Pacing Guides Below!
2nd-3rd Mrs. Harmon's Class
We are continuing our shark unit for the month of September this week! We will be focusing on author's purpose as well as text and graphic features as we read Sharks.
We started MAP testing this week and will continue next week with math MAP testing. This will dig into our time that we are able to instruct. If your learner is struggling, don't be afraid to reach out. There are resources, videos, and steps that I can send your way. I just ask that you keep me posted! What worked for your learner, might work for someone else's learner, too!
The plan is also to try our first coding lesson this coming week!
On the calendar: No school on Friday, September 24th. Pacing guides are updated to reflect this. I have posted them below. Parent teacher conferences on Wednesday and Thursday, October 6th and 7th. School Pictures are scheduled for October 26th. More details to come about pictures at a later time.
What You Missed at Open House
Signing Up for Parent Teacher Conferences
All parent-teacher conferences are online this year through TEAMS. Here is a link to sign up for a date and time to meet with Mrs. Harmon: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/508084eabab23a4fa7-mrs20.
Signing for Receiving Student Handbook
All parents and students need to sign a form that show you have read and agree to follow the student handbook. Forms will go home with your child to sign on their face-to-face learning day. Please sign and send the form back with your child the following week. Curious about accessing the student handbook? You can find it here: https://www.omahavirtualschool.org/student-handbooks.html.
Club offered to K-5
There is only one club currently being offered to our 2-3 graders. It is called Get Fit! You will find information about it below. If you are interested, please sign up with your child's iPad here. (click the word here)

Week in Review:
We started our MAP testing this week. I’m SO PROUD of our learners! They put for tremendous effort and stuck with it until the end. We took the Reading test this week. At the end of class we introduced some coding vocabulary. Thank you to those who were able to come to Open House. It was nice to get to talk with you face-to-face.
We will be taking the Math MAP next week. Please make sure your learner remembers their iPad. I will be providing them with paper and pencil to show their work. Please reinforce this at home. Many times, the mistakes they make are silly and could be avoided by writing the problem down.
Parent Teacher Conference sign-ups are now available! Please click the link below and choose a day and time. All conferences will be held on Teams and will each be 10 minutes long.
