The Connection Week 1 Term 1

Huapai District School 9th February 2023

Welcome back (finally) to our school year.

We are so sorry to know a number of families were hit pretty hard with the flooding. Our thoughts and support continue to go to those families impacted.

It is so good to see your children back and to see our classes settled straight away. We are very positive, excited and looking forward to a significant and (hopefully) an uninterrupted year!

At our school, we place emphasis on what we call the “6 C’s”. These competencies (Collaboration, Critical thinking, Creativity, Character, Communication and Citizenship) mark what we believe to be key life skills to shine and be the best our children can be. We believe all children are endowed with seeds of greatness. They carry the hopes and dreams of their parents and families, they have an innate sense of wonder and inquiry. Our goal is to see these “seeds” flourish at our school.

I am excited by what we have in the school, where we are going and the potential we see in your children.

Great to have you as part of the school and to get the year underway.

John Petrie

Upcoming Events

  • Tuesday 21st February - School Picnic
  • Tuesday 7th March - Senior Swimming Sports

School Picnic

We are excited to invite you to our ANNUAL SCHOOL PICNIC. Due to the later than scheduled start to the term, we will hold this picnic on Tuesday 21st February. Please bring your picnic or your takeaways and join us for a very relaxed evening of fun and games. Teachers will be in their classrooms from 5pm - 5:45pm then Mr Petrie will speak at 6pm. There is an annual adults vs students soccer game that everyone is invited to take part in as well as gumboot throwing and a bouncy castle.

Each year there are plenty of opportunities to enrol your child in a team sport representing our school in a weekly competition. This is done by clicking on the google links provided either in a direct email such as this or a link in the school newsletter. It's important to register early as the teams fill quickly.

First up is BASKETBALL. Please use the link below to register.

* Please note entries close TOMORROW - February 10th as games start the week of February 20th.

Senior Swimming Sports

Our Year 5-8 senior swimming sports will be held at Massey High School on Tuesday 7th March. There will be more details in next week’s newsletter.
