Mrs. Goodman's Message

Hello Miller Families,

I'm in complete disbelief that we are turning the calendar to May and we are entering that time of year when we get to celebrate all the accomplishments your child has made over the past few months! We feel honored to be with your children every day to watch them grow socially, and emotionally, and help them develop a love of learning!

This past week we celebrated Administrative Assistant Day and honored our very own Mrs. Vicki Wolf. We want to thank Vicki for helping every child, family, and staff member as our Miller Administrative Assistant. We all know she keeps things running smoothly for all of us. You sure made her day bright with all the cards and goodies!

We have many important events in the month of May. Please take notice if these events are for preschool, kindergarten, or both! Each week I will highlight what's ahead so you can be aware of any special events. This upcoming week kicks off our end-of-the-year assessments where we get to meet with your child one-on-one and celebrate their amazing growth. Many of these results will be reported on end-of-the-year report cards or progress reports. Other than these assessments, it will be a typical week at Miller.

Principal Pals - Week of May 8th

At the end of each year, I like to celebrate with all classes with an activity called Principal Pals. I will make a visit to each class, read a story and pass out a small treat. This year we will be serving a fruit juice frozen slushie cup. I have included the ingredient list for everyone to review. If you have a specific request that your child should not have this treat, please email your child's teacher so we can have an alternative option provided. I'm looking forward to celebrating with each class!

Slider & the CLE Hot Dogs are Coming to Miller - Thurs. May 18th

As you've seen in earlier newsletters, Slider and the CLE Hot Dogs will be coming to Miller on Thursday, May 18th! This will be our final PBIS celebration to honor all our efforts of being respectful, responsible, and problem solvers all year long! Children can wear Guardians Gear, or Red, Yellow, or White in support of their favorite condiment! This will be a fun-filled day!

Due to scheduling constraints and our unique AM/PM school schedule, we only have the CLE team in the afternoon on Thursday, May 18th at 1:45. If your child is in AM preschool or kindergarten, you are invited to bring your child to school for this event. We understand this brings a little extra scheduling on your part, but we're hopeful with advance notice you and your child can come to Miller for this event. If you have a particular need or have any questions, please feel free to call or email me and I'm happy to help troubleshoot.

I also want to share that we are aware some children may be a little shy around costumes. We will be seated on the grassy area of our playground away from Slider and the Hot Dogs. We have a calm room if needed and it would be helpful if you communicate any concerns with me or your child's teacher.

A Message from Mrs. Menta - Craddock Principal

Greetings Families of Incoming First Graders!

It is hard to believe but, we are fully in the planning phase for the 23-24 school year. Below you will find the link to a Student Placement Parent Feedback form. While I cannot accept specific teacher requests, you are invited to fill out the short Google form linked below to share what type of teacher your child does best with. I will personally read all of those submissions and combine your thoughts with the information from our school staff to make the best placement for your child. If you would like your feedback considered, please fill out this form instead of emailing me. It helps me greatly to stay organized and have all of this important information in one place! You are also more than welcome to come in and meet with me to talk about your thoughts. My contact information is below.

We need to begin placement of students in approximately one month, so any feedback you'd like to provide must be to me no later than Friday, May 12th if you would like it considered. Thank you and please reach out with any questions, concerns or feedback!

Spring Music Updates

Hello Families!

We wanted to share that we have an additional music educator, Mr. Justin Moore, joining us to teach our afternoon music classes for the remainder of the year. Mrs. Iriarte will still be teaching classes that have music in the morning, so your children may still have her as their music educator. Mr. Moore has been a music educator in the district for the past year and a half and is stepping in and teaching in the afternoons. If you have any questions, please let us know! Welcome, Mr. Moore!

The spring is full of musical sounds and your child has been wonderfully learning about rhythm patterns, moving to the beat and choreographed movements to folk partner songs with classmates. We are sharing a digital music performance with our kindergarten families this year instead of a music concert. Your classroom teacher will share this copy by the end of the school year.

Look for a few sneak previews in ClassDojo this spring as we continue to learn and grow in our musical abilities!

Extra Clothes

With the warmer temperatures this week, our students enjoyed some messy recess time! Although we make parts of our outdoor play areas off-limits, little children seem to find the mud from time to time.

1: Please make sure your child has a change of clothes in their backpack. This includes extra socks and underwear. They often feel more comfortable in their own clothing.

2: Our clinic is running low on pants. If your family has a pair of girls or boys pants that your child has out grown and you would be willing to donate to our school, we would appreciate any donations. Please send in washed items labeled "Extra Clinic Clothes" and we will put them to good use. Thank you!

Important PTO Information

Hello Miller Families! Below are AEPTO updates.

1. Wednesday, May 3 - Mazzulo's Community Give Back Event
Shop at Mazzulo's (Aurora location) on 5/3 from 9:00am-6:00pm and Mazzulo's will donate 20% of all proceeds sold to AEPTO!

2. Sunday, May 7, 2023 at 2:00pm - Magic Gives Back
AEPTO and the Harmon High PTO (HHPTO) are partnering with Ganley Chevrolet of Aurora to proudly present "Magic Gives Back!" This is a Vegas style magic show and a unique fundraising platform developed specifically for local schools and communities. Magic Gives back will be held at the Solon High School Auditorium.

3. Foertmeyers Spring Flower Pick Up is Sunday, May 7 10:30am-1:30pm

  • Please remember parents are responsible for the pick up of all items ordered and delivering to anyone who ordered from your child.
  • Any plants that have not been picked up by 1:30 pm on delivery day will be considered a generous donation to Aurora Elementary PTO.

We will also need volunteers to help on pick up day. We will need help unloading the truck when it arrives, and then help loading the items into cars. If you are able to help, please sign up using the link below. Thank you to those who have already signed up to volunteer!! We appreciate your help!
