Washington DC for Eighth Graders

Many of you had a chance to listen to Mr. Maslanka talk about the trip last week. The Washington DC trip is a great experience for our eighth graders. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to connect their learning to travel, be with their friends in a non-school setting and see our nation's capital. Trip information is found HERE. Mr. Maslanka heads up the trip and you can find more information on his BLOG. Financial assistance is available, contact

We currently have almost 80 students signed up for the 8th grade Washington DC trip. All TMS students and families participating in the trip must agree to the TMS behavior agreement. The document is here: TMS agreement to travel

There is a link to an electronic agreement on the document, and that is also located here:

Locks and Agenda Books

We still have locks and agenda books available for purchase. Get them while they last!

Late Bus

The TMS/THS Late Bus started running on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, and will run every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the school year. The bus departs TMS at 4:00pm and will cost $1.00 to ride. Tickets will be sold and money will be collected during all lunch periods on that Late Bus Day.

PLEASE NOTE: The Late Bus does not follow the regular bus routes. Students will be dropped off as close to their homes as possible. Please refer to the Late Bus routes posted under “Transportation/Bus Routes” on the TMS, THS and district websites.

Homework Club coincides with Late Bus and is scheduled for every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:00-4:00pm in the downstairs computer lab (off the lobby area). This is a time for students to work on homework or class projects. Two TMS teachers will be on hand for questions and extra help, if needed. There is no additional cost to sign-up for Homework Club.

SEPAC Presentation

October 10, 2018

Basic Rights in Special Education

Speaker: Federation for Children with Special Needs (

Location: Tyngsborough Middle School

Main Office Conference Rm

50 Norris Road, Tyngsborough, MA 01879

Please RSVP by 10/5/18 to: Rachel Leo, SEPAC Chair,

This informative workshop will provide an overview of rights and responsibilities of Parents/Guardians in the Special Education process. It is designed to help parents learn how to be effective partners with the school; to decide his/her child’s eligibility criteria for special education; to plan, make decisions and to monitor the education progress of his/her child. Parents/Guardians are strongly encouraged to attend this workshop at least once if he/she has a child with special needs.

Outside Food into school

Many times students wish to share food with their peers in school. We try to limit this practice as we have students with allergies to be aware of. If you hope to send in food to school for more than your own child, please check with teachers and our nurse, Mrs. Riley. Whenever food is prepared for a project or a surprise, there will need to be an ingredient list for students and staff to observe.

Student Information Form

If you haven't already done so, please log onto your student's parent portal and update your information as soon as possible. This form is now past due.

This is a reminder that Tyngsborough Public Schools is now collecting yearly information updates through an online Student Information Form. Most of the information on this form is pre-populated with what we currently have on file. Please review and make changes where necessary. If you have multiple children, you will receive a separate email for each.

Please note that failure to complete this form may result in your child not receiving over the counter medications from the school nurse and will affect their ability to attend field trips.
