A Note from Mrs. Smith, Principal
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Happy Fall!
Our Bilingual Team has been working hard on our Friday Pep Rally, which is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. Teachers have nominated students who show the character trait of Perseverance and they will be receiving awards.
I want to personally thank all the volunteers who decorated our hallways and stage. It looks amazing! We will post pictures from the Pep Rally in next week's parent newsletter.
In order for our children to grow academically and social/emotionally it is important they are in attendance every day. As of September 25th, our year to date daily attendance average is 95%. Last school year at this time, we were at 95.3%.
Our daily Attendance Goal is 98%.
We will have a competition between classes in each grade to see who has 98% attendance each week. Please help us reach our daily goal!
Our doors open at 7:30 a.m. and breakfast is served from 7:30 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. Instruction begins promptly at 8:00 a.m.
I look forward to another wonderful school year and growing better together!
Kris Smith
Principal

Gifted and Talented Nominations Now Open!
Referral requests are now open for Conroe Independent School District Gifted and Talented program. Although the testing will not take place until late January, referral requests are accepted at this time. Referral requests can be made by the parents and/or campus staff. It is recommended that parents of 2nd grade students wait until CogAT scores have arrived before nominating their child because CogAT scores are part of the GT assessment. If you are interested in referring your child, you may want to discuss this with your child’s teacher. Referrals will be accepted October 2- December 15, 2023. You may download the referral request form below or request a printed referral form from the front office or the Assistant Principal. You can also find the referral form and other GT information on the CISD GT homepage.
Parent Survey
The Birthday Book Club is a great way to celebrate your child’s birthday or half birthday and help support the Glen Loch Elementary Library. We have partnered with Bound to Stay Bound, one of our library book vendors, so book selections can be made directly from the website.
Your child’s name will be on a book plate on the inside cover for as long as the book is in our library collection. (Please do not send a book you purchased on your own. Our books are library bound and preapproved to join our collection.)
Your child will be the first person to check out the book. And when it’s returned, it will be placed on the library shelves for all Glen Loch students to enjoy for years to come.
Their picture will also be taken with the book and displayed on the BBC bulletin board.
This is how it works:
Click on the link or scan the QR code that takes you directly to our Birthday Book Club site on Bound the Stay Bound.
https://www.btsb.com/sosl/glenlochelementary/
Select “Donate Now” and choose the perfect book to celebrate your child this year. You will be asked to enter your child’s name for the bookplate that will be added to the inside of the book.
Pay for the book online.
Once your purchase has been processed, the book will be sent directly to our Glen Loch Library! When the donated book arrives, your child’s picture will be taken with the book and added to the Birthday Book Club bulletin board and the book will be checked out to them to enjoy!
Thank you for supporting the Glen Loch Library!
September is Library Card Month!
This year, CISD is collaborating with the Montgomery County Memorial Library System to encourage reading in the month of September. Please share this form with families for a library card (Or print them out to send home with students). Families can return the form to a local branch of the Montgomery County Library System to receive their library card. Students can also return them to the Glen Loch Library, and we will arrange to have the cards made and distributed at school!
