OCE OUTLOOK
MAXIMIZING HOME AND SCHOOL COMMUNICATION
MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL OLSON
Last week was a great week to be a Blue Jay! Students celebrated Friendship week with messages from our counselor, Ms. McKinzy, as well as some fun dress up days! The students were very creative with some of their outfits and there were lots of smiles in the Nest! We know it is important to kick off the school year with our students by reviewing the importance of being a good friend!
As was sent out in the district communication over the weekend, the district is not mandating masks at this time due to new information received. At this time, FBISD is not mandating masks, but masks are still strongly encouraged. Thank you for your patience as we all work to naviagate this changing situation. Please continue to watch for district communications about the mask expectations.
Your Blue Jay is busy taking part in some beginning of the year diagnostic assessments called REN360. Teachers will be sharing the results of these assessements at parent/teacher conferences in late September. The information obtained will help guide teacher instruction for your child this school year.
We will have Open House on September 8th from 5:30-7:05. We will also have an informational session from 5:00-5:30 for parents of students in grades Kinder, 1st, 2nd, and 5th who are part of the district grading pilot and who will not receieve numerical grades for at least one subject. All sessions will be held virtually this year, and the links will be sent out in the near future.
As always, thank you for your continued support! We appreciate the wonderful parent support we receive at OCE!
Thank you,
Deanna Olson
