A Message from our High School Counselor

World of Work Wednesdays! - We need your help!

November is National Career Awareness Month

World of Work Wednesdays are 1-hour, virtual events where a panel of professionals take questions, interview-style from me, the School Counselor. Questions will be pre-released to those who participate in the panel.

We hope to have 2-3 professionals, within the same field, on each panel and hope to hold multiple events throughout the school year. That way, we can present on various career fields!

If you are interested in participating in a panel, complete this survey, and I will contact you.

If you know someone who would be a great person to share their career with our community, share this survey with them, and I will reach out!

Let's build a partnership for the success of our students!

Kind Regards,

Mrs. Tegan Thacker, M.S., P.P.S.

Orange County History Day - Natural History Day

Each year NHD frames students’ research within a historical theme. The theme is chosen for its broad application to world, national or state history and its relevance to ancient history or to the more recent past. The theme for 2020 is Breaking Barriers in History. The theme provides a focused way to increase students’ historical understanding and an opportunity to develop perspective and understanding rather than merely being able to cite facts and figures. Through participation in this program, students in grades 4-12 become amateur historians on their journey to discover the significance of their chosen historical topic.

To learn more about this unique opportunity, please visit https://ocde.us/EducationalServices/STEMandHumanities/History/Pages/History-Day.aspx

If your child is interested in participating in this year's contest, please contact Chuck Glowacz: chuck@inspireschools.org

Unlike other children’s microscopes the JuniorScope has precision glass optics, is easy to use and gives a crystal clear image of what is on the slide.

To top it off the JuniorScope is two microscopes in one. You get a low power microscope for looking at solid objects like leaves and insects and a high power microscope for looking at transparent objects like blood cells and bacteria.. Not only that, the JuniorScope has all the power your child will need with 40x, 100x and 400x magnification levels.

Homeschooling Advice

The Best Way to Navigate Boredom With Kids

"Do you ever feel guilty when your kids say they are bored? Do you try to fill their days with endless activities to avoid the complaints? Maybe boredom isn’t something to be avoided. Perhaps it can be a gateway to connection, discoveries, and natural curiosity.

What’s a mom to do? Give them more chores? Tell them to go outside?

Maybe those ideas have their place in different circumstances. Yet, my approach wasn’t to find my kids something to do or punish them for being bored.

I may be the last person on Earth to advise how to cure boredom and stop whining, but I think the best way to navigate boredom with your child is to put yourself in his shoes. What would I want someone to do for me if I were bored?"
