A Message From Our Principal
Hello Mesa Families!
It is hard to believe we are already at the end of the 1st quarter! Thank you for joining our virtual Curriculum Night as well as meet the teacher Zoom meetings. If you were not able to make it, videos have been loaded to teachers’ Schoology page for you to reference at any time. We will continue to host virtual opportunities until we are able to officially welcome you back into the building. This includes upcoming parent/teacher conferences October 13th and 14th. All sign-ups for conferences are electronic. Please check for communication from your son/daughter’s teacher(s) for instructions on how to access and choose your conference time. During conferences, teachers will be sharing student progress towards skill mastery, common building practices, and plans for our upcoming move to the new portion of our building. Stay tuned for lots of information to come! Please also be sure that the front office has your most up-to-date email address in order to receive our weekly news, which includes any events and happenings around the building.
As we move into second quarter, one of our main areas of focus will continue to be the practice of morning meetings in each classroom. If you have not heard about these practices, please check in with your son/daughter to ask them about their experience with morning meetings. Every classroom conducts a morning meeting to start each day. Our students are practicing skills in sharing, communicating and growing their knowledge of daily classroom practices.
We will also continue to focus on PBIS (positive behavior intervention support) systems throughout the building all year. So far, are main focus areas have been around our PRIDE practices of: Perseverance, Respect, Independence, Dedication to safety, and Empathy. You can be a great help to us by having conversations with your son/daughter on behavior expectations within the school setting. The more we can do together to reinforce skills in and out of school will help our students to be most successful.
Mesa staff continues to be devoted to providing the best educational experience for your children. As the year continues, staff will participate in multiple professional development days to grow instructional and behavioral knowledge in order to meet all needs of our students. Thank you for being great supporters of instruction within our building. We continue to look forward to working with you for the next 3 quarters.

Classroom Updates
Hello Third Grade Families,
We have had an eventful year this far and we will continue to do so. In Math we will be finishing up addition and will swiftly be moving to subtraction. It is important to lay down the ground work, because soon we will be dipping our toes into multiplication and division. In reading, we are continuing to work on fluency and stamina. The goal for students is to start an assignment, follow the directions, and complete the task independently. In science, we are continuing to work on plants. Thank you for all the support we have received!
4th grade has been working hard building stamina and creating a positive classroom community! Our students have learned what it means to persevere when presented with a challenging problem. Please view our weekly classroom newsletter for specifics on all academic subjects. This Friday, October 2nd, we are dissecting an owl pellet! Please contact the 4th grade team with any questions or concerns!
October Count Day
For funding reasons, it is important that we receive a signed form back for every individual student, so please plan to fill out each form/link you receive.
Thank you so much for completing the survey form and helping to ensure the District continues to receive the appropriate amount of Federal Impact Aid funding.
If you have any questions, please call Veronica Garretson or Joanne Vergunst at 719.382.1300.
