BUILDING BLOCKS FOR MATH

This is a two part series, and participants must complete the Early Numeracy training before completing the Number Sense training. There are two different cohorts that participants can chose from.

Building Blocks: Early Numeracy

Participants will look at what early numeracy is, why it is important, and what they can do to increase early numeracy skills in their students.


Dates:

Cohort 1: September 27, 2021

Cohort 2: February 2, 2022

Building Blocks: Number Sense

Participants will look at what number sense is, why it is important, and what they can do to increase number sense skills in their students.


Dates:

Cohort 1: October 12, 2021

Cohort 2: March 1, 2022

OPEN ENDED RESPONSES

This is a two part series, and participants must participate in both.

Open Ended Responses: Solving Word Problems

Participants will look at ways to introduce problem solving to their students, building consistency across grade levels, and improving their students' problem solving skills.


Date: September 24, 2021

Open Ended Responses: PSSA

Continuing on from the first day of solving word problems, participants will build upon this knowledge as they dive into PSSA Open Ended questions. They will have time to look at some samples, score different responses, and work on building their own to use with their students upon returning to the classroom.

MATH GAMES

Teaching Math Through Games

Participants will look at how games can be used educationally in their classrooms to build math skills. Upon completion of this training, they will have games they can take back to their classrooms to use.
