Congratulations Lowell Battle of the Books Team 13-14!!!
This year's Battle of the Books (BoB) team worked hard since last summer to read 50 book titles and compete at the Wheaton Public Library against other local schools in January through March.
Our awesome Battle team members are:
- 5th graders: Kelsey Scott-Otis, Ellie Wiltfang, Atticus Rusin, Calla Sundquist, Madelyn Strasma, Jacob Horn, Paige Neri
- 4th graders: Melanie Kurtz, Logan Voress, Jordan Winter, Aidan Flanagan
Battle of the Books is open to all interested readers who will be 4th & 5th graders this fall!

Make a Nomination for Distinguished Teacher Award
Do you know an outstanding teacher who deserves recognition? The NEW 200 Foundation is now accepting nominations for the 2014 Distinguished Teacher Awards for excellence in teaching at District 200 schools. Awards are given to one teacher per school year for each level (preschool/elementary, middle and high school). Nominations may be made by any CUSD 200 student, parent, alum, staff, or community member.
To make a nomination, visit our website at NEW200.org/awards/nomination. The deadline for nominations is Friday, March 21, 2014. Winners will be announced in May.

Mark those calendars for the Lowell 5K!
The most anticipated spring event....The Lowell 5k...will be held on Saturday May 3rd this year! Do know about the Lowell 5k? This is a family friendly event, where you can walk/run either 1.5 miles or 3.1 miles, where you get a free shirt, goody bag, and race day treats, where all Lowell students get a medal at the finish line, and to top it off....100% of the run proceeds are donated to the American Cancer Society! And did we mention there is a raffle table where you can win a prize JUST for being there? All of this for only $8!!!! This is one of those events at Lowell you won't want to miss, so get it on your calendars now!
As we plan, we are looking Lowell families that own their own businesses and would like to help sponsor the run. Sponsorship is a tax deductible $150, and in return your logo will be on our race shirts and all promo material. If you are interested in sponsoring the run, please contact Kelly Nielsen at email@example.com or Courtney Henderson at firstname.lastname@example.org before March 25th.

Lowell's Sixth Annual Culture Fest will be on Friday, April 25, 2014. We are looking for families to present a cultural table, donate a dish or showcase a cultural talent.

- Free babysitting is available at each meeting.
