End of the Year District Reminders
- Teaching and learning continue to the last day of school.
- Textbooks are collected no earlier than May 24, 2018.
- Units of study are taught with supplementary materials until the last day.
- Library book check out will not end prior to May 24, 2018. Media center remains open until the last day of school, June 7, 2018.
- Chromebooks and other student devices will be collected no earlier than May 24, 2018.
- Schools should monitor the input of final grades.
- Dress codes continue to remain in effect for students and staff.
- Students are required to attend school until the last day of school. This applies to elementary, middle and high schools. Students may not be told that they do not have to come to school.
- Movies, videos, etc. are not to be shown unless they directly relate to the current unit of study. Any movie, video, etc. must be previewed first by the teacher and then approved by the principal or his/her designee.
- Administrators continue to monitor instruction and student behavior. "Be where you are supposed to be doing what you are supposed to be doing."
- Reminder: June 6, 2018 is a half day for elementary and middle school students only. June 7, 2018 is a half day for elementary, middle and high school students. These are full days for Richland Two employees. Transportation will not be provided for after school programs on these days.

Summer Math Challenge starts 6/18/2018–until 7/27/2018
The Summer Math Challenge is
Email-based program that parents can enroll students
each day for 6 weeks parents get an email of a Math Task for Parents to work with their children
For Example:
Real-world Wednesday – created by educators.
Friday Fluency–number facts–to help with accuracy and speed
When the program ends, parents can print an award certificate to celebrate their child’s summer math accomplishment!
Conference Opportunity
The Center for the Education and Equity of African American Students (CEEAAS) is pleased to announce the date for the 2nd Annual Equity in Education Conference. The 2019 EiE Conference will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.
Our keynote speaker is the author of the term “culturally relevant pedagogy” and the book The Dreamkeepers: Successful Teachers of African American Children, Dr. Gloria Ladson-Billings! Dr. Ladson-Billings is a professor of education at the University of Wisconsin, the Kellner Family Distinguished Professor in Urban Education and President of the National Academy of Education. She is currently ranked among the top three Most Influential Education Scholars in the US. The theme for this year’s conference is Keeping the Dream: Culturally Sustaining Teaching and Learning.
