Patricia Bullard-Brazos River Spotlight Student of the Month

"Patricia is an intelligent, hardworking, and dedicated student who exemplifies the true meaning of the ideal student.Throughout her years at Weatherford High School,she models character, integrity, and honor," says Andy Smith, Dean of Instruction at WHS. Patty started in the Brazos River RDSPD Parent/Infant Program as a toddler and has continued all the way to her senior year. She is a member of the the Church in Peaster, where she is part of the Homeless Ministry. She is a member of the following organizations: Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, The National Society of High School Scholars, and the Technical Honor Society. Patty has decided to attend college in order to become a physical therapist. The perfect career for a student whose kindness and willingness to help others is so apparent. Way to go, Patricia Bullard!!!!!

Kim German, MVP for the Speech/Language Department in WISD

We are so proud to call Kim German part of our Brazos River RDSPD family! This outstanding Speech/Language Therapist is improving the lives of our Brazos River students daily!! Weatherford ISD Special Education Department recently named her the MVP for her department. Congratulations, Kim!

Presenters from both local Video Relay Services will share about this free service available in your home. If you have high speed internet, these companies can set up free equipment and free service so your students obtain independence in communication.

May Brazos River RDSPD Family Night

Come listen to Aaron Lewis, Admissions Counselor for Job Corp providing graduating seniors opportunity as another avenue for secondary education through skill and trade with some programming offering up to two years of college for free. Job Corps is the nation's largest career technical training and education program for young people ages 16 through 24. Students can earn a high school diploma, a high school equivalency credential, or college credits through Job Corps.

We offer career technical training in more than 100 career areas. Students receive housing, meals, basic health care, a living allowance, training, and preparation for a career, all at no cost to the students!

Not only does Job Corps help students develop a career plan and provide the training needed to help them achieve their goals, but when their training is completed, Job Corps will help them get the job! A Placement specialist will work with students for up to 21 months after they graduate to help them find the right job. If needed, Placement counselors can also help students connect with local housing, transportation, and child care resources in their neighborhood.

Deaf & Hard of Hearing Night

Dallas Wings 2nd annual Deaf & Hard of Hearing Night. This night will be held on June 2nd, as well as, be the night of teacher appreciation night and we would love to have you all join us on this awesome night! Sarah Milem with Texas Hands and Voices has been working with us in making this night fun for all! We will have interpreters at the game and at the sections for all to see them throughout the game and we are working on getting a link set up for captioning. We have a promo code for everyone to get a discounted ticket.

Deaf Awareness Day at Scarborough Faire- April 28th

Scarborough Renaissance Festival® is great family fun, 16th Century Style! Enjoy full combat armored jousts, Birds of Prey exhibitions, Renaissance entertainment on 27 stages, Mermaid Lagoon, Renaissance rides, games of skill, exquisite crafts, 200 shoppes and artisan demonstrations.
