Peek At The Week
November 9, 2018
Team,
During PLC on Friday, we share out the campus wide expectations for the CHAMPS reset that will take place on Monday. Some may ask why...let me ask you a few questions. Is it taking longer for your students to respond to the signal for quiet? Has hallway behavior taken a turn for the worse? Are you feeling frustrated because students aren't cleaning up as thoroughly now as they may have been? If your answer to any of these questions was yes, then a behavior reboot is necessary!
Obviously, reteaching behavioral expectations can bring huge benefits to your classroom. With all of us being on a reset Monday, using common language, we can bring students back to appropriate behaviors and meeting expectations. A great method for reteaching behavior expectations is to model them. We will use CHAMPS as a campus. State the behavioral expectation and the routine associated with it. Demonstrate the routine and expect students to follow. The presence of expectations and routines can help increase instructional time, so that students can learn more! Praise, praise, praise the positive and consequent the negative.
Be sure to review/view the slideshow presented in PLC on Friday so that you are ready for the reset. Mrs. Werner will be here to support our efforts.
