May 2022 Newsletter
Tisdale Middle & Secondary School
Principal's Message
With the onset of May, surely spring will arrive, and the snow will melt. We are ready to get students outdoors at breaks and to finally do some training for the track and field team outside. Our school ground is still a little wet, so hopefully May will bring some good drying conditions for us, the farmers and those families planting gardens and flower beds.
On that note, have you heard about our plans to revitalize our school grounds? The School Community Council, along with a staff committee led by Mr. Dallas Thiessen, are working on a plan to make some significant upgrades. Over the next few months, expect to hear about fundraising plans and volunteer duties to make our lofty plans come to fruition.
Our term three report cards will be released through Edsby on April 26th. Please view marks as well as the teacher comments. The end of June will come quickly, and students only have two months to improve marks. Don’t hesitate to contact teachers with concerns.
Thank you, TMSS families, for all your support,
Carmen Messer
GRIT Awards
Pepper Roy has earned the Grade 6 Grit Award this month! She is a great student at TMSS! She works very hard in her classes and doesn't waste any time getting to work. You will often find her with her nose in a book, and has quite possibly read more books than any other student or staff member at TMSS. She has a knack for writing, and drawing, and is very musical. She is kind to her peers, and always willing to help out a friend. We are so lucky to have Pepper at TMSS!
The Grade 7 GRIT shout out Georgia Smith. Georgia shows GRIT through resilience by not giving up on her schoolwork. She has identified areas that she knows that she wants to work on and always asks for help from others or her teachers. She also shows togetherness by always being positive and asks to help others when she notices they need help. Georgia also competed at the Tisdale Dance Competition in 16 different dances, and she did amazing! She received various medals in all her dances she participated in.
This month’s Grade 8 GRIT awards goes to Haley Szucs. Haley is a dedicated student who quietly demonstrates GRIT on a daily basis. She is a student who consistently attempts every new academic challenge placed before her, is determined to persevere to complete the task and is someone who asks for feedback for improvement. Her resiliency is evident as he adapts and incorporates new learning techniques into her daily life. She is a dedicated team player who works to obtain a group goal. She is a great example of someone who consistently displays GRIT qualities at TMSS. Way to go Haley.
Hannah Lewis is the recipient of the Grade 9 GRIT award. Hannah is an exceptional young lady. Everyday she arrives to class with a smile on her face. She works hard in all her classes and willingly seeks feedback to improve. Her assignments are always thorough and completed on time. Hannah works well with her peers and will go out of her way to make others feel welcome in class and at school. When new students have arrived in class, Hannah is there to welcome them and show them around. She is a busy person outside of school with babysitting, being a group leader at AWANAs, and being active in Youth Group. In school she participates in Middle Years Drama and has helped out as a score keeper for volleyball. She is responsible, reliable, as well as caring and kind. Hannah’s positive outlook always brightens your day! Congratulations Hannah, you are very deserving of this recognition!
Harmony Head has been working really hard in Grade 10. She is completing her tasks, has regular attendance and is striving to do her best. Harmony is always positive and is a pleasure to teach. I have seen a lot of growth and resilience in Harmony from the last semester to this semester. Keep up the great work!
Alysha Hall is our Grade 11 GRIT recipient. Alysha is a student who works with a smile and positive attitude. She is doing the things that lead to learning. Alysha is asking questions and answering questions. She is participating in discussions. She tries the strategies given and is willing to learn from both success and failure. She is looking to improve and does so with enthusiasm. Her love for language and literature was shown through her participation in the High School Drama production. She had the responsibility of stage manager. These are qualities that make Alysha the Grade 11 April GRIT recipient.
This month’s Grade 12 GRIT winning, is Carrley Blythe. Carrley is a hardworking, dedicated student, who puts forth her best effort in everything she does. When faced with challenging tasks and concepts, Carrley takes the content that the class is learning with a growth mindset. This in turn reveals her positive attitude, which is infectious, and rubs off to her peers around her. Congratulations Carrley!
