Students needing to make schedule changes can schedule an appointment for August 11th or see their counselor the first two days of school. Changes can only be made if a student did not request the scheduled course. Level changes require approval from teacher and parent.

College Admission Parent Night

On August 29th, 2017 from 6:30pm-8:00pm counselors will present on the college admission process. A panel of admission representatives will provide tips to help parents navigate successfully through this process. This parent night is designed primarily for Junior and Senior parents but all parents are welcome.

Transcripts- Class of 2018

College bound seniors will be requesting transcripts for both college and scholarship applications. We must have parental/guardian consent in order to release student transcripts and standardized test scores. Please look for the opportunity to provide consent when you are completing the online registration process in July.

Official transcripts may be withheld until all financial obligations to the district are satisfied.

Financial Aid night- FAFSA and more

HHS will be hosting a Financial Aid Night on Wed. September 20th at 6:30pm. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about completing the FAFSA, grants, work study and scholarship opportunities available to students.

Our ISAC representative will also be available on October 25th from 6-7pm in our Career Center to help students/parents complete their FAFSA online.

College Fairs

College fairs are a great opportunity for students at all grade levels to start researching and planning for life after high school. You can obtain information from a variety of colleges and programs all at one time. College representatives will also visit during lunch throughout the school year.

The Fall Regional College Fair will be held at SIUE on Tuesday October 24th, 2017 from 6:00pm-7:30pm.

The National College Fair will be held at SLU on Sunday October 22nd, 2017 from 1-4pm.

The Spring Regional College Fair will be held at SWIC on Sunday February 25th, 2018 from 1:30-3:30pm.

For tips on making the most of your college fair visit check out:

PSAT/NMSQT- Juniors only

This is one test with two purposes for Juniors. It is a practice SAT as well as the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The score is not used for college admission purposes. Generally, we recommend that the top 10% of juniors take this test. The test is given at HHS on Wed. October 11, 2017. The cost of the PSAT/NMSQT is $20.00. Students may sign up in September to take this test. Registration deadline is September 15th.

State SAT Scores

Juniors: Scores from your April School day SAT test are available via your collegeboard account:

Please see your school counselor if you need your test registration number to access those scores.

Students may chose to retake the SAT on a National Test date. Registration information can be found in a student's college board account.

Dual Credit- SWIC and/or SLU

Students have the opportunity to take high school courses and receive college credit through Southwestern Illinois College and St. Louis University. This is a great first step to receiving tuition free college credit while still in high school. Credit for these classes is given by the college at the end of the student's senior year. Students will work with the dual credit coordinator and their teacher to register. Some courses may involve fees. Students will need to request their transcript be sent to their university after graduation. School Counselors will share this information with them during their senior exit interview.

AP Scores

AP scores will be posted online only in July. Students may set up their college board account at anytime on

*It's best to provide the same information on your College Board account and each AP answer sheet.

*You will need your AP number from your student pack and the card you received during "bubble in" to receive this year's scores.
