Themes - Zoophonics Friend of the Week
We will be focused on individual class themes - mostly about Spring and Summer.
In the Classroom!
The Smalls
Sensory, Art, Science:
Being in the breeze, and touching the grass, and picking up a rock will be upcoming adventures for the Smalls. We will drive some cars through the sand and salt, and have a car wash. We will continue to let our babies play with their food!
Math:
There is always opportunities to use math in everything we do. We count our toys, toes, fingers, snack. Getting those fingers moving with crayons last month was great! We will continue this practice, and get those lines and circle. We will be able to explore outside chalk also.
Dramatic Play:
As the big kids anticipate meal times, we use this opportunity to pretend and prepare the food with the kids. We will mix and pour and serve up our food.
Social-Emotional:
We like to talk to the babies as soon as possible on things that we know they will be practicing soon. We will also continue to work on our sign language. We have been trying to set boundaries, and use consistency in rules. The word "no" is being used in order for the babies to understand wrong choices. If this is a concern, or you would rather your child not have this reinforcement, please address it with us.
Gross Motor: Pushing physically abilities is challenging and rewarding. We will use our muscles and energy to stay active.
Zoophonics:
We use the tone of our voice to emphasize the letter sounds.
The Junior Scouts
This month we will be doing a beach theme for two weeks in June, so make sure you send in your kiddos swimsuits and water shoes ASAP.
The Scouts & Stuarts
Our friend Vivian will be moving into our class and we are very excited to be able to play with her again.
This month we will be spending lots of time outside! We are going to be talking about summer and the beach. We are excited to make different of sensory bins and bags with lots sand and shells. We are going to explore the different kinds of fish that can be found deep in the water. While we are outside, we are going to learn new exercises to help us wake up and start our day. We are going to try and learn some new songs and dances too.
Last moth we said good-bye to Ms. Sarah. We will miss her very much. We also welcome our new teachers for the Tot Spot Ms. Cassidy and Ms. Katie!
Sawyers
June begins our Summer themed weeks. We will be discussing various activities and important points about summer and ways to fully enjoy it.
Our science experiments this month will include sun screen experiments, seeing what items melt in the sun, dancing worms, smore's sun oven, underwater magic sand.
Sherlocks
Well, Summer is finally here! We had our share of hating the cold weather and now we have plenty of time to hate the miserable heat! Welcome to INDIANA. In the Sherlock's room, however, we are having a great time! MAY was a great opportunity for us to watch some of our garden grow and enjoy learning about new topics. Dinosaur week was a HUGE success (who knew kids liked dinosaurs). This month should be just as exciting, if not more! This month we will be discussing The Ocean, The Beach, Under Water Animals, and we may even throw Father's Day into the mix as well. This month is a great opportunity for the kids to learn about our great oceans and the many magical creatures that live within them. We will be making our very own Jelly Fish and playing with lots of sand! I look forward to another great month in the Sherlock's Room!

Healthy Start Wisdom
Seasonal June Cooking!
Blueberries are here! Those plump little berries are packed full of antioxidants. As with all berries, buy organic if possible to avoid pesticide exposure. Blueberries pair marvelously with lemon flavor (juice and zest). I love them in desserts, baked goods and salads!
Here is a cool sweet treat to get us through the warm June weather:

The Teacher's Spotlight!
Question: If you didn't have to sleep what would you do with the extra time and why?
Ms. LeAndra: If I didn't have to sleep I would catch up on all my favorite tv shows I'm way behind on. I would also spend more time with family and friends during the day and then work on house chores at night.
Ms. Corrine: To either binge watch Netflix or clean.
Ms. Emily: I would sleep because I never have time to do just that.
Ms. Jacanda: I would do my makeup and dress up and have photo shoots. I always wanted to be a super model. Lol ooh and play music while doing so!
Mr. Mike: exercise because I wouldn’t be tired!!!
Ms. Stacey: I would never choose not to sleep. If I had more time, I would sleep. I would literally continue doing what I do all day, and wish I had time to sleep.
Ms. Danielle: I’d still sleep. Sleeping is my favorite thing to do. I could sleep all day.
Ms. Crystal: I would read or catch up on tv shows. Since I wouldn’t have to sleep (but the kids would) the house would still be quiet, so I might do some crafting as well.
Mr. Andy: watch movies and read
Ms. Maggie: If I didn't have to sleep I would catch up with my DVR. I would catch up with my DVR because I am always a couple of episodes behind.
Ms. Mikayla: I'd catch up on some reading since it seems like I'm always pushing it off. I would like to think that I would do some housekeeping chores too, but I think I would probably still procrastinate.
Ms. Katie: If I didn't have to sleep, I would spend my extra time to go do fun things with my son that I won't do on the weekends because they're packed. Examples include, Children's Museum, the Zoo, etc.
Ms. Hailey: probably still sleep because I love to sleep.
Ms. Ericka: I would explore the world at night time lol. I've always wondered if there was ever a moment where the entire world was just still. And get things that I didn't get to during the day done.
Ms. Erin: Read more, I have all these books, and never enough time to read all of them.
Ms. Alisha: Read because it’s the best thing ever! You can always escape to interesting places and “meet” all sort of people.
Ms. Allison: If I didn't have to sleep, I'd probably still sleep. I love sleep. It's my BFF.
