WTSD Welcomes Interim Superintendent Dr. Terrance Brennan

In early October the Weehawken School District welcomed Dr. Terrance Brennan as the new Interim Superintendent of Schools. Dr. Brennan, who has earned a Doctorate and two Masters degrees from Columbia University, has over 20 years experience as a superintendent serving at Middlesex, Pompton Lakes, and High Point Regional School Districts respectively. In addition to his years as a Superintendent, Dr. Brennan is also a graduate professor at St. Peter's University. His extensive experience as a superintendent and positive track record of ensuring stability and growth in the districts where he served prior were key qualification in his selection. Dr. Brennan has also worked closely with former superintendent Dr. Robert Zywicki so he is familiar with all of our new educational platforms and initiatives. Maintaining the forward thinking progress has been the key to the growth in the WTSD, and Dr. Brennan intends to maintain the continuity. He will also serve as a sounding board in the hiring process of a permanent replacement. We at WHS wish him best of luck in his time here!

WHS Mourns the Passing of Beloved Counselor

Weehawken High School Staff and students were once again subject to tragedy, as beloved Guidance Counselor Ciara Ziek passed away suddenly after a brief illness. Mrs. Ziek, had been a counselor in Weehawken for 24 years at the time of her passing. Countless lives were touched by the witty and charming Mrs. Ziek, was love of children was only matched by her rapier wit. Over the years several thousand WHS students and their families were counseled for not only educational purposes, but many times personal and familial concerns. She was an indispensable part of the staff, who will be missed greatly. Mrs. Ziek leaves behind two loving children of her own, and countless other WHS students. Rest easy Chiara...Thanks for Everything!
