Pick Elementary School News
January 10, 2023

From the Desk of Mrs. Reetz
Our students have transitioned back to the school routine well. We have welcomed many new Pick Leaders to our campus this semester, and we are delighted to have them join our village on the hill!
Report cards from the 2nd nine weeks will be sent home on Thursday, January 12th. This January newsletter includes many resources to support student growth and success. We are most thankful for your involvement in your child's educational journey. If you are looking for specific resources to offer additional support at home, please do not hesitate to reach out to our team. Classroom teachers and our instructional coach, Title 1 teacher, EL teacher, counselor, and administrators are all here to partner with you and support our Pick Leaders!
We wish you a wonderful weekend ahead, and we hope you are able to join us for our upcoming STEM night on January 26th!
With thanks for your teamwork,
Debbie Reetz

Thank you all for your participation with our Holiday Food Drive! We were able to synergize as a learning community to donate a total of almost 800 pounds of food to families that need it most. Our Habit of the Month for January is “Think Win Win…Everyone Can Win!” Students will be learning in counseling classes how to better compromise and cooperate, as well as work through conflict with others. This includes effectively communicating feelings/needs and how to apologize in a way that really works!
Families, as we all begin a new year and consider positive changes individually and as families, we hope you find the following resources helpful! Having your child on school every day on time, unless ill, is an excellent commitment to make that reaps huge benefits. Thank you for your partnership and don’t hesitate to reach out with any concerns about your individual child.

January is National Mentoring Month. Auburn University’s “Project Uplift” is an excellent free resource if you know of a child between the ages of 5 and 9 that could benefit from having an extra adult support person in their life.
