Lenneia Batiste is an anchor on WGXA Morning News and can be seen Monday through Friday at 5:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. on ABC 16 and from 7a.m. to 9 a.m. on FOX24.
Lenneia joined the WGXA News team in September, 2012. She came to Macon from WABG-ABC 6 in Greenville, Miss., where she was the weekend anchor and bureau reporter.
Lenneia is originally from Riverdale, Ga., only a short ride north of Macon. She received a bachelor's degree in English from Spelman College, and a master's degree in Journalism from Florida A&M University.
Lenneia won a first place Associated Press award for her story highlighting the abilities of a young lady born with no arms. She also traveled to Haiti for a documentary covering the indirect economic impacts of the 2010 earthquake. She also covered the 2012 Democratic National Convention for FAMU-TV20. In Mississippi, she was recognized for coverage of the 2010 Mississippi tornadoes that crippled the Delta area.
When Lenneia isn't anchoring, she is teaching aerobics classes, her new passion away from the newsdesk. She is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Lenneia is excited to be in Macon, and enjoys waking up the people of central Georgia. If you have a story idea for WGXA Morning News, drop her an email atlbatiste@newscentralga.com.
