Getting Geared Up for Next Semester
Are you students doing any of the following next semester? Then, come see Mrs. Rinio today to collaborate! Working together results in less work for each teacher and helps ensure students build on their valuable information literacy skills as well as address those important Alaska standards for information literacy and research.
Mrs. Rinio can help your students with any of the following, and more:
- Using primary and secondary sources
- Defining the purpose of a piece of writing (i.e., inform, persuade, etc.)
- Comparing and contrasting sources
- Synthesizing information
- Writing citations
- Writing an outline or organizing information
- Finding information in books or online
- Evaluating online information
Remember, students need explicit instruction and guided practice on many of these skills to be career and college ready. Let's start planning today!
Pin of the Week
Students can vote for the books they would like to see the library buy via the Pin of the Week bulletin board. Each week or so new books will be featured. Check it out and share this opportunity with your students.
Things every 21st century teacher should be able to do
According to Sean Junkins and Carl Hooker, there are 21 things that every 21st century teacher should be able to do. Check out the image below to see what you can do!
Don't know how to do some of these things but want to learn? Ask the librarian to show you how!
