Message from your Proud Principal
Hello Parents,
This has been my first week at Parsons serving as the interim principal. What a wonderful school! The students and staff have welcomed me and helped me learn my way around the building and taught me the meaning of Parsons Pride and "One Ridge". I am excited to be here for the next few weeks. It has been several years since I served as a principal in an elementary school and this week has brought back all the hugs, high fives and interesting questions that elementary school students provide daily!
Congratulations on exceeding the PTA fundraiser goal! The students were very excited to see the graph go over the goal amount and hear the PTA parents celebrate on the morning news. There will be many prize days over the next few weeks for the students including a fun race with the administrators. I think I need to learn to ride a tricycle again! I appreciate everyone who volunteered to assist with the fundraiser and thank you to everyone who made a contribution. The goal is to purchase new playground equipment soon!
I look forward to meeting all of you through the car rider line, visits to the school, and special events. Please email or call with any questions or concerns.
Proud Interim Principal,
Mrs. Wanda Law
Here is a children's book you can share with your child about how other countries celebrate the Mid Autumn Festival. Here is the link: https://youtu.be/F6tfyJnwRPk
Hispanic Heritage Month
As a school community, we celebrate our diversity and the impact we have on building cultural competency in our community. In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, we invite you to reflect on the power of our differences and the impact we can make when we unite with shared values and purpose. The national theme, Esperanza: A Celebration of Hispanic Heritage and Hope, challenges us to envision a great future knowing that our hope and resilience can lead us there. Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the achievements and contributions of Hispanic Americans. The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period starting on September 15 and ending on October 15. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988. The day of September 15 is significant because it is the anniversary of independence for the Latin American countries of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September 18.
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, we will students share on the morning announcements the achievements and acknowledgements of Hispanic Americans who have contributed to our Nation. We will also have students share about the Hispanic culture and points of pride about their culture.

What is PTA?
PTA is the Parent Teacher Association and we make a strong community for all of the children at Parsons. Join us for $7 on parsonses.memberhub.com/store to become a PTA member and we will be stronger together.
Friday, September 23 is Staff Goody Day. 4th and 5th grade families are asked to please send in individually wrapped snacks, granola bars, chips, treats, fruit, or beverages. Please label any items containing nuts. The PTA will collect these items in the car ride lane and bus rider doors in the morning. Then your PTA parents will put the items in the staff lounge for a nice treat for all teachers and staff to enjoy!
Thanks to our amazing and generous Parsons families, the PTA is proud to announce that we EXCEEDED our fundraising goal of $35,000! The grand total raised is $37,894!!!! Thank you so much to everyone who contributed. We will be able to have so many fun events and programs for this school year. And we will also be able to purchase new playground equipment for our field!!! We are so excited to be able to make Parsons an even better place for learning and fun!
If you have any questions about the PTA or volunteer opportunities to help our school community, please email parsonsespta@gmail.com.
