Safety Drills
Public Schools in Wisconsin are required to practice various safety drills throughout the school year. Fire, Tornado, and Lock Down Drills will be performed periodically during the year. In the next few weeks we will perform our first lock down drill. Prior to the drill, teachers will provide an age appropriate explanation for the drill, and its procedures. If you have any questions about our safety procedures, please contact Mrs. Davies.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on November 3rd from 12:30-7:00pm. Homeroom Teachers will email a link to an online sign up during the week of October 10th. Specialists (PE, ART, Music) will have walk-in conferences.
How Much Homework Should Your Child Have?
Parents often wonder how much homework can be expected each evening. A good rule of thumb is about 10 minutes x the student's grade level. For example: A child in 4th grade should have ABOUT 40 minutes/evening. Some students are able to work efficiently and complete the majority of their assignments during work time or study hall, requiring much less evening homework. Others, may work at a slower pace requiring slightly more homework time each evening. If you are concerned about the level of homework your child has, it is strongly recommended you reach out to the classroom teacher to discuss your concerns.
November 8, 2022 Referendum
At the November 8th elections, there will be a referendum question on the ballot for all district residents. The district is seeking approval from tax payers to increase the levy limit to avoid projected budgetary shortfall in the upcoming years. Parents are invited to attend a meeting on October 19th at 6pm, to ask questions and learn more about the district's needs. Additionally, more information can be found on our website https://www.woodsschool.com/page/woods-referendum.

Covid Testing
Covid testing is still available in a limited capacity this fall. Currently, testing is only available for staff and students on Tuesdays and Fridays. Per the new CDC guidelines students and staff will not be required to isolate if they have been exposed to Covid unless they develop symptoms. If symptoms develop, isolations should take place for 5 days following the first day of symptoms.
