VVE October Newsletter
From Mr. Searl
Greetings Valley View Elementary Families!
It has been a wonderful first month of the school year! We truly appreciate all of your help and support in making it a great start for your children. The teachers, support staff, and administration are very thankful for all you do to make sure your children are here every day, on time, well rested, and ready to learn.
It was a busy September with school events and we appreciate everyone who joined us at the Heritage Days Parade, the back to school PTA Carnival, our first Partners in Education (PIE) Night, and field trips to the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge. Participating in school events is a great way to make connections with the school, and show your children that you care about their education.
As we move into October please make every effort to attend your child’s parent and teacher conference. They will be held on Tuesday, October 15 and Wednesday, October 16. Please contact us if you need a reminder of your time or if you need to sign up. It is the best opportunity for you to ask questions, tell the teachers about your child, and get information about how your child is doing at school. We value your partnership in your child’s education and know that you are the experts when it comes to your children. Plus, we will be selling giant chocolate chip cookies again!
Fall Break (also known as MEA break) is also rapidly approaching. There will be no school on Oct. 16-18. We hope you can take this time to be with the family and do some special things together. Remember to encourage your children to read each day, and to get outside for some exercise and play.
The next Partners in Education (PIE) night will be on Tuesday, October 22 from 6:00-7:30. Dinner is served from 6:00-6:30 and the presentation is from 6:30-7:30. Bring the kids because dinner is provided and they get to play in the gym with Mr. Tally while the adults meet.
Finally, I would like to mention how excited I am to be at Valley View Elementary again this school year! It is my fifth year as the Assistant Principal, and prior to that I was the Dean of Students for two years. I love making connections with the children and families, and hopefully making a positive impact on your child’s elementary school experience. Please let me know if there is anything I can do, or if you have any questions. My door is open and I am always here to help.
Sincerely,
Steve Searl

Sinceramente,
Steve Searl
