THE STRENGTH OF THE WOLF IS ITS PACK

April 28, 2023

Wasco Families,

When I retell my experience with the Talent Show events- tryouts, dress rehearsal, and performance, I always share the story of our students' confidence. Throughout the events, I would periodically ask students if they were nervous. Were they nervous to tryout? To be alone performing? or to be on the stage? The kids always responded no and shared their excitement and eagerness to share their talent. Their confidence just shined in the performances.

I am so happy that Wasco school is providing opportunities for our students to learn and express their talents and I want to underscore the role of our staff in this process. Day to day your child is supported and encouraged by a knowledgeable and caring staff who is eager to connect with each one of our 460 Wasco Wolves.

As we enter into Teacher Appreciation Week, I can think of no better time to tell you and the staff what an immeasurable gift they give. I appreciate your partnership as we share our acknowledgements and gratitude for the teachers' work.

Kind Regards,

Stephanie Brannan

Principal

Townhall

Wednesday, Wasco engaged in one of our favorite activities, TOWNHALL. The topic of this session was teamwork, and you can see evidence of our collaboration, and problem solving in these pictures. The mixed aged groups were tasked with building a tower from nothing but straws and tape. Across the building you could see kids organize and invent all sorts of processes, including assembly lines. Our SEL Team designed the activity, they were really impressed with our students’ excitement, engagement, and cooperation as they created their structures! Go TEAM!

Our Unbe-LEAF-able MAPLEfest Field Day is Coming!!

Wasco’s Field Day is Tuesday, May 23rd. It will look a little different this year as we are working together as a Music, Art, P.E., LRC, and Empower team to provide a fun-filled day of activities. We need volunteers to run and assist with stations for our grade- level sessions. Your job will include working with other parent volunteers to lead the Field Day games and assist with Field Day activities. Please note that our volunteer opportunities are limited and are on a first come basis. The activities on Sign-Up Genius are listed by grade levels (Grades 3-5 from 8:10 a.m.-10:45 a.m., Grades K-2 from 12:40-2:50 p.m.).The start times above include sign-in at the office and a brief volunteer meeting prior to the start of the event. May 12th is the last day to sign up.

Wasco's ABC Challenge

A is for Apple, Z is for Zebra, and W is for WASCO SCHOOL. We will celebrate all of the things we have learned and all of the friends we have made as we travel through the ABCs! Each day there will be a special theme based on that day’s letter. Some days students can choose to come dressed in the theme, and other days there will be activities done at school. April 20th will kick off our ABC celebration with Animal Print Day. Please take a look at the attached ABC Calendar to participate in this optional fun event.

Music Program Recruiting

It is recruiting time for our music programs. All elementary schools have strong orchestra and band programs which provide small and large group lessons. The Music Department provides your child with expanded exposure to the arts and the process of learning an instrument teaches many life skills. I will also add that the music directors are fantastic at their jobs. Music lessons and band practices are engaging and filled with fun activities. If your child is considering this opportunity, please encourage them to try!

Dismissal Plans

Families, If your child is not following their regular dismissal plan (riding the bus, picked up from school, or staying after for a program), would you please be sure to provide me with the information in a note?
