Glenealy School Newsletter
7th September 2016
Message from Brenda
Dear Parents and Caregivers
Programmes are now well underway and our Year 1 students have settled very well into full time school. I’m sure many of you are keen to find out about how your child is progressing at school and the goals and targets they are working on. Three-way conferences are held for this purpose. In the previous newsletter we have given details of what these are, who comes and how you book online. Please click here for this information. Remember to book in quickly so you can get the time slot that best suits your family.
Positive Education
You will be aware from the Meet the Teacher evening that the school is continuing to focus on building our student's belief in themselves by fostering a growth mindset, encouraging them to challenge themselves by moving out of their comfort zones into their ‘stretch’ zone and to persevere and learn from their mistakes. We are also empowering the students to look for the good! The positive detective programme we have implemented in the school this year reinforces this. You can also discuss these things at home. Here are the goals of the programme below.
School Uniform
We have noticed that many of our students are not wearing the uniform with pride. Please encourage your child to wear the standard uniform pieces supplied by the school. This includes black shoes without coloured sports logos. Many of our girls like to wear hair accessories. If doing so, please keep these within the school colours of blue and white. Thanks.
Kind regards
Brenda

Music News - Instrumental Lessons
Instrumental lessons have now been filled. I apologise to those students who missed out, the response for lessons this year was extraordinary and I am extremely thankful for everyone's patience.
This year has seen a doubling of the available lessons for violin, guitar and drums and yet we were still oversubscribed.
I have kept the application list and will now transfer it to a wait list. If a space becomes available it will be offered to the next child on the list.
Thanks,
Mr. Benzie
