What We Read in Books...
We Read in the World
FEATURING
Cornelius Minor
.....................................................
People often say that books make us better people or that writing can change the world. Cornelius Minor will guide us as we take a very close look at our role as educators in ensuring that meaningful change happens. Just like we cannot leave the teaching of literacy skills to chance, we cannot simply hope for a better world. We teach for one.
In this series, we will work to name the skills, plan the lessons, gather the resources, and practice the methods that help children to learn and practice critical thinking skills in the literacy classroom and then to transfer those skills to their lived experience in the world.
The intended audience for this course is literacy coaches, English language arts teachers, school leaders, and literacy advocates. Participants are encouraged to purchase a copy of Mr. Minor's book, We Got This: Equity, Access, and the Quest to Be Who Our Students Need Us to Be.
Questions related to this course should be directed to Dr. Rosalyn Shahid at Shahidr@resa.net
