Hubble space telescope
Discovered more of space then anything else
Description
named after Edwin P. Hubble. 2.4 meter primary mirror, it has the smoothest optical mirror ever, it is made of fused silica glasss and weighs about 1800 lbs.
Discoveries
Large Magellanic Cloud
This is an image of the greater Magellanic cloud. It is over 15.3 parsecs away
Comet ISON
This image of the comet was made on may 8, 2013. It is one of the clearest images of a comet we have.
Carina Nebula
This was taken on the Hubble space telescope's 20th anniversary, this is the first image of a star being formed
The Perfect Location
The location allows the space telescope to see farther clearer images due to the lack of an atmosphere, and the lack of light pollution. The location also allows it to take pictures all the time, regardless of any weather on the surface.
Research and Improvements
currently the space telescope is researching the bizarre alignment of nebulae in the outer edge of our galaxy. This is incredibly strange given their incredibly chaotic formation and existence.
