May 9, 2022 LWE Newsletter
Dear Lake Windward Families,
What a fantastic weekend it was for LWE! Not only did we get to celebrate all of our fabulous LWE Moms on Mother's Day, our school's Science Olympiad Team competed at the state event on Saturday and earned the title of State Champions!!! Yes, LWE won first place overall in the state out of over 60 teams who were invited statewide to compete at Kennesaw State University. Our team medaled in four events (that means they scored in the top three in the state for the event) and earned 6 ribbons (which means they scored in the top 10 in the state for the event). This is a first in our school history and I am SO PROUD!! We couldn't have done this without the fabulous teachers at our school. A special shout out to Ms. Kelly O'Connor and Mrs. Terri Goldman who are our Science Olympiad coaches. They are such dedicated and selfless educators who give of their time and energy to coach after school and allow our students to have the opportunity to compete. I am so grateful to them and all of our students who are a part of this amazing team! They worked so hard and it truly paid off! We celebrated this morning with a Champions' Parade and lined the hallways of LWE to cheer on our Science Olympiad State Championship Team!
Way to learn, grow, lead and show!!

New Student Registration
Is your child leaving Lake Windward?
Please help us prepare for the 22-23 school year by letting us know if your current Kindergarten through 4th grade student will not return to Lake Windward Elementary in August. The withdrawal process is easy. Simply email the completed withdrawal form (attached) to Janet Adams at AdamsJ2@fultonschools.org.
There is no need to re-register returning students.
Also, I would like to say a special thank you to Mrs. Kristen Shepherd for her dedication to our school's PTO. She has served as PTO president for the last several years and is stepping down this summer to give other LWE parents an opportunity to lead this work. Thank you, Kristen, and the entire PTO board for your support of our school!!
If you are interested in volunteering with our PTO next school year, please email email@example.com.
